    Lean dosing pros and cons

My biggest questions are: Does the method require a nutrient rich substrate or leeching via this substrate into the water column, whichever you prefer as a mechanism. What are we to dose if not our 1kg bag of KNo3 and our csm+b? It's not handholding, I would just like a bit more...

    Lean dosing pros and cons

Ok looking back i read this wrong michael LOL! i thought you meant how long is a nutrient rich substrate sustainable without dosing not how long is a inert substrate sustainable with EI. Happi did say other people have done lean with inert, i would like to see their work posted here. I have...

    Lean dosing pros and cons

About 6-12 months from experience with amazonia and not dosing anything at all in a low tech tank. Anecdotal of course, which i feel is very important to add as i'm not conducting studies with controls.

    Lean dosing pros and cons

Definitely correct in my opinion, amazonia allows me quite a lot of lee-way in my low-tech setups and means i can wait and increase stocking more slowly, because the plants are provided for without the fish waste being produced by a full stocking compliment, i also dose very lightly once a week...

    Lean dosing pros and cons

Exactly this, like growing any plant there is a sweet spot, where if you provide light, you have to match the demands that light sets on the plant in regard to supplying the appropriate building blocks for growth. In growing terrestrial plants you don't have the problem of co2 limitation...

dosing a low tech tank on a 'Thames Water' supply with an allinone solution

Some good information to chew on matt, i've been looking at my iron and magnesium dosing, considering making a liquid mix with a sequested iron powder 'plant tonic' as i'm using london tap aswell and want to do it on a budget, nice post mate it is definitely reaffirming my thoughts.

2000L tank EI Dosing with drip water change

Probably would be best making a tailored dosing regime rather than doing straight EI? i wouldn't know where to start with 2000L myself though! sounds like an epic project, make sure to post it here please. :D :nailbiting::woot::clap:

Can I use Easy-Life AlgExit and Aquascaper Complete Liquid Plant Food at the same time?

Pretty sure it is meant to be used alongside your standard dosing regime, liquid carbon and or pressurised co2, but having said that i have never used it, and can't find much about the mechanism it uses, my guess is it is some sort of algicide? This thread has some further reading...

    Nitrate Rich Tap water

Water supplier readings all the way, better than dipping your test kit, just to add to what darrel said, if your water report is old, like mine is from 2016, they have a minimum and maximum allowable ppm or mg/l extra to the tests current report, you can use that as a guideline reading too.

    Slightly sad floating plants

Definitely shake well anytime you are dosing anything to the tank including water conditioner. :)

    Ei dosing mix use by

Mine are mixed with tap, kept in dark storage, never had any moulds form on my trace mix, im just using what i have because i'm lazy i have powders stored in an ammo container that i could mix up fresh. Carry out water changes after any manual removal tactics, it sounds like you have a deeper...

    Ei dosing mix use by

i'm using seperate macros and micros mix that is around 4 years old... not really recommended, but it still seems fine after a week and a half using it. Some algae is inevitable in a planted tank, take the leaves of your val and lay them over your palm, brush with a soft toothbrush (one for...
