I noticed the noise with my 206 is related to the inlet outlet quick release, if you fiddle with the 2 levers it gets quieter for sure.

Are you using a spraybar i find it helps a lot with more thorough flow that seems to travel a longer distance underwater, or like wolf said powerheads are great, you could also use a surface skimmer to skim surface films and increase general flow in the tank, which kills 2 birds with one stone...

If it says 15 then you could probably squeeze a 16 in there were it a plastic pipe.. but when it comes to lily pipes i wouldn't want to be squeezing anything they are so delicate.... not sure what to say really i didnt even know 15/20 was a size of pipe on aquarium filters.

Submersible Pool and puddle pumps you can get for around 50-70 quid that will pump 10000lph (depending on hose size) which is an insane flow rate... it's just could you keep the mixed water coming at the same rate at that point. There are also smaller mini version of these bottom pumping...

I don't use any fine grade sponge, i tend to clean my filters quarterly to 6 months, not had a problem with flow to be fair, but maybe thats because im using like pp10 or 20 not pp60 sponges, i see the same brown gunk when i clean my sponges, just not as much, i think a lot resides in my substrate.

Thats because if you run them in a chain they are all running on the same flow rate and same pipework, its just matching flow rates is all, because if you don't you will have a back pressure to the canister unit leading to the pump seal failing.

As long as the flow rate matches, if it doesn't, it could lead to pump head O-Ring failure long term.

You can't match this type of filter for surface area, they are extremely good, but sometimes unsightly, i would plant epiphytes on the foam.

has it got an O-ring seal on it? thats what ive always had trouble with with my old externals, i just vaselined it up and put it back together and it was fine.
