If not get a food tub from Wilko's or somewhere they do them with a sealable lid for fresh veg (Potato's, onions Big stuff) more than enough room for the fish and water and to leave them in while you setup.
As to having them in bags I have transported many fish 45 mins in a rucksack on the...
My 500l gets a change once every 2-3 weeks sometimes a month and its normally no different in nitates and is clean as ever. i guess i do it out of pure fear that i will be shot for not doing it!!!
I use a home made python and change about 1/3 of my water (500L) its not super fast on draining as I start it using the python then turn it off allowing gravity to do the rest.
Then refill. All in all it takes about 1 1/2 hours. I clean the glass during the emptying...
Done
Balls will still manage to stick over the outlet and reduce the flow.
Im thinking of using some spagetti filter media as i have loads of it. if its knitted well it may not move.
well if it turns up tommorow i will be taking some photos before duraing and after. should only take a short while...
Yes thats exactly the way it will work. yes an air bubble will build up in the cap at the top. i have bought 2 brass tails and plan on one in the lid with another bit of tubing and a stop valve (Seen one in B&Q which will take the pressure) This is like on the aquamas one.
As said the only...

Your a star ed. I was looking at 50mm Pipe (could go larger) and was looking at having a upbend at the bottom and a t-peice on top using the top hole as a service hole.
Using the bend to cause some water disruption along with some bio balls.
As to fitting the CO2. I have seen some manifold...

Where sells Glue fit PVC Parts with all the reactor bits i need??? There is online but sometimes it not all clear and im sure i will order the wrong parts....
How good will this be for a DIY reactor?? will this work? the reason is i have some usable parts that might work but some is slide in and tighten. Will this be secure enough????
As said the smaller the fuse the more likely of just a small bang resulting in need of a new fuse. if its over sized for the appliance you could cook something causing it not to work/be irrepairable.
Is this something that could help new enthusiasts to both fish and plant keeping. Things like
PH
Mineral content
Chlorine or Chloramine
General Hardness ETC
By County/water board? or can it be just by water board?
I would have found it useful when starting and even now it could be useful...
My Bro had BBA all over his annubias and wood but it never grew on the gravel heavily. Personally it gave the tank an nice eary look and worked well in his tank.
Since he has removed it all and changed his scape but BBA in the right solution looks good.
Working on the fact that if i do a PH Check on my water out of the tap its between 7.2-7.6 After a 12hour period its between 7.8-8.2. From what i have read if you move a whole point after letting water vent e.g 7-8 you have 30ppm of CO2 in the water. (Give or take)
This is where i have done my...
Grrrrrrrr. Thought i would setup my checker and run it for a few days before i setup the CO2 to see how much i have now and just after a water change.
From my thought i think my tap has about 15ppm in it meaning i add 5ppm of CO2 after a water change. Question during my rant... will this be an...
DIY Python kit (Genuine parts)
Bout to do a step by step guide to my FE setup (I know its been done but sometime a second one can help some of the slower people like me out there!! LOL
im about to get another EX1200 and could detail the filter setup with some media pics?
Well im going to rescape with them in there I will move out a few bits of wood to give me some room to move in to then start. the only fish i need to worry about is my harliquins and gouramis as the rest cower when my arm enters......
Now to obtain some bits i need and hopefully do it by next...
Im aware of the thirds rule from photography but its other than the vallis and echindorus the left and right will be very different. Different wood and plants. hopefully removing the look of central feature.
This is my thought is the moving of the fish more stressful as im going to have to chase them around my tank!!!! Im thinking of ising a Bin liner (Can anyone tell me if these are safe to use) and putting in a few wieghts and place it in the tank at one end and move it over slowly till half the...
How do you do yours???? do you empty out the fish to stop from scaring them??????
I had the idea of doing alot in 2 halves by blocking the middle out and working on oneside then the other letting the fish through between sides..... Only problem with what to segregate the tank with.........
It is deep as far as sand goes plus i want it to sit about 1/2 inch above the sand to stop as many shoots as possible. there will be stuff around it anyway so you will not see it.
Ill look at the rainstrip.
Most of mine are growing under some over. Its never going to top it but at lease aid low maintanace other than hair cuts.....
Colour is not an issue but dark or clear are better. this is going to have alot of cover in front as im going to build a tall to low gradient back to front creating...
Right time rescaped and made the tank a bit neater. Im after keeping my vallis in check and not growing everywhere. to do this as someone suggested just place a barrier in the sand.
Question is what can i use thats safe? i need to cover the 5ft length of the tank.
Also how wide would i need...
