Im aware of the 10 year rule to be tested. Chris the test is to confirm the preasure can be held in the canister with out rupturing.
I have 3 2kg canisters FREE to anyone in the basingstoke area for pickup. Im after a second 5KG and then get them both filled as i need them.
After a major leak on my DIY reactor and an Aquamedic 1000 turning up cheap im now using it. I get NO co2 from my bar at all.
I have mine VERY close to the filter soo its got to travel a further 2.5m once its out of the reactor.
Im also disolving enough to do a 500l tank and i think im a...
I have this one and its quite when on and the needle valve is very accurate.

Still good after a year
I have mine on a EX1200 and i use reducers and have no issue. Im running it on a 500l tank and have an uncountable stream and get some buildup over a few months. my flow is still good. I have mine tilted rather than straight and this made a difference.
Just be aware sometimes the screw in bits...
I now use an AM reactor and you can see the counter thats built in but its pointless.... Im now on if its too green/yellow then i just adjust it. my needle valve is very acurate.
I had and broke a boyu as i have larger hosing the CO2 inlet was broken off when the pipes were moved due to being too close. This seems to have resolved this by the angle and they do it offically in 2 sizes.
My only issues is its not quite. you hear the diffusing on a boyu.
At no point...
When i first started i was on like 15 a min then 30 then 60.... I was seeing no change on colour i thought it was not disolving but i saw nothing to show that...... its now a long stream and more just so i can see i have actually moved the needle!!!
I have a bubble counter but is completly useless to me as its passing so much CO2 its nigh impossible to count......
I now just use it as a how fast is the stream of bubble are when adjusting.
Right.... been a while since i have been on here. i need a Drop checker that is a robust. my bala's keep spacking out near them and cracking them.
Its annoying as its like she goes to there before doing it... if i move it.... you can see the pattern....
Is there anything better than the...
The length of use from aCO2 will be estimates and depends on the size of the tank. but either way a 500g bottle to a 2kg FE is always going to run out quicker. Also the FE comes as a 5KG option if you have room.
Then as said you can buy what you want in the kit. not what the kit gives you...
Yes it will fit but you will need a needle valve attaching to it. have alook on the forum there are a few on here we have used. I have an aquarium HK one and its fine. no leaks it has a solinoid too.
I have this reg and overall its very well made. silent solinoid and solid connectors. it does only have needle valve control which is stiff but smooth when moving so easy to micro adjust.
Thanks i will monitor it. I think the issue was it had not got to pressure as i was not running enough BPM. I read everything wrong and was doing 2 BPM not BPS.... Now it seems more stable.
Im monitoring gas use to wourk out if im loosing it fast also have covered all the joints in soap...
Completely agree but you still need to read the BPS, as to increase it you need to know by how much you are doing it.
In answer to nick's question yes you can count the BPS. and its just a matter of counting fast. Although setting up a bubble counter is not too hard it does make more sense...
You do count them. there is a counter that sits inline. I will be posting up a few pics soon as its one area still not pictorially explained.
Should get them up later today.
Ill Run it as is, then up when im at home tomorrow then if i see no/little change (likely) to about 2 bubbles per second.
As to my diffuser im trialing something and if it works will Highly recomend it. but it may not work.
Thanks.
I have a 500L tank and i have set it up with 45 BPM to start with. is this too high or too low?
Im running a solinoid ad i have set it about 1 hour before i get home so i can see how it is an hour or so later. If Blue then ill up it a few BPM and then im off out for a hour and will see what...
Its a pure glass counter and it has a class check valve before it. I was wondering if having one after it would help smooth out the counter as the pressure between the 2 valves should be similar.
I FINALLY managed to get my Drop Checkers and i have setup the co2. Looks to be no leaks but time will tell.
The bubble Counter seems eratic... Is this because it needs to get up to pressure. Also will adding another one way after the bubble counter allow a more accurate reading????
Thanks
is this in a solinoid setup? if so the presure drop over night could be causing a suck back over night of water. This will not be an issue as you have the valve stoping the water coming back to the cannister. the BC will fill as the CO2 will not have enough pressure to empty it but the tubing...
I have a EX1200 now and to get it to fit i would need to down size the pipe. This should give the throughput needed. The reactor can take up to 2000l aquariums. I would say thats meant to mean LPH. ???
Anyone used this company before????

Im tempted to ask for free delivery and at 41 quid is not too bad....
Im getting tempted with a JBL vario unit there about 18 quid and look ok and can be hidden. Good thing is there expandable at a cheap price and could be hidden with some tall plants....
I have just bought the one at the begining of this thread from Aquarium HK i will write a review once i have it on construction and noise levels of the solidnoid. ETC.
Im thinking im needing to stop the ball from acting as a 1 way valve so i might silicone them to the side or tie them down to stop them blocking the outlet.
Im off to a LFS for som vac shopping ....
This is my way to go i think. easy and effective the great thing is the hose connections will allow maximum flow.
As to the internal media im going to steal a ball or 2 from my tetratec im sure it can spare one or two.
What a great idea.....
http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2008/0 ... actor.html
2 gravel Vac's (Just fine 2 with large hosing for the fitment and you have your clear PVC and fittings for 10 quid. then as said an RC Fuel Line nipple or you could get a brass unit for the CO2 injection.
The one...
surly the biggest cost is the clear PVC? Im working on a few ideas from cheap materials i will post them soon and let you all look at them to tell me they rubbish!!!!
Surely if the reactor is built right there will be no built up CO2.
am i right in saying having a bend in the inlet to the reactor will aid turbulance and then the balls do the job of spliting the CO2 in to small bubbles to help it dissolve? if a Cone shape or any type of continual slope to...
Biggest issue i have seen is the lack of reactors and diffusers for large tanks.
How do you tell if a reactor is efficent???
Its definatly one way to build one with agood flow. would using tetratec bioballs inside work? (There hollow balls)
So when building your own whats the key things to...
Im after a reactor for a 500L tank.
Im after the cheapest option possible at the moment as its not a cheap job seting up CO2 from scratch.
I saw this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aquarium-CO2-Diff ... m153.l1262
but is it going to be ok?
Other thoughts welcome.
