Yes definitely Millennium Wood. Try it in 6 months once it's been exorcised! 👹
Nice bold rock work though! I think it'll be better without sand personally, and you'll thank yourself in the long run for the maintenance. Plus I've never really appreciated the aesthetic of sand and aquasoil mixed...
Hi @Worshiper
Unfortunately it's not Red Moor or Dragon Wood.
This one is often called Millennium Wood. It's use in aquariums is debatable though since some people have no problems and some people end up with toxic swamps. The key seems to be soaking the wood for months to allow it to leach...
Ooof, that's steep. What size is that? (S/M/L) I either got 2 large or medium, £60 each. Either way I imagine it's not very economical if you're planning on a big ol' iwagumi.
Have you tried Pets at Home?
Yeah they only got a select amount in the order! I got the two of the remaining 3 pieces 😅 Riverwood was where I got my biggest Black Lava. Or you could order some Unzan and splash the cash LOL.
That looks beautiful @Gill !
@seedoubleyou I used this application to plan my shrimp tank last year and I feel like it helped. The outcome was fairly close to what I had laid out. But yeah it's very fiddly. Hit markers are a bit all over the place and sometimes once you've lost a layer you just...
I'm all for a mixture of styles and I think there's a versatility in using natural wood pieces that you wouldn't get from 2x4s. It allows you to make changes, for example if you decided that you want more of it exposed than you had planned. If you decide to rescape, you might choose to show off...
Hey guys, I've used some bricks in a new contest scape to elevate the hardscape and substrate. As they're engineering bricks, they have 10 big holes in the centre. I was thinking to fill the gaps with crushed lava rock as I've got tons of it.
My question is do you think these holes will become...
Sounds pretty much spot on. It's probably overlooked but I would make sure you've made food for yourself in advance. You'll be grateful when you're wading through soil and are starving.
Thanks Paulo for the clarification, I haven't forgotten about this by the way folks! I'm working out the logistics so it's a worthwhile thing to be part of. If anyone wants to give suggestions I'm open to ideas!
Some of the things I'm working on include creating a digital meeting space, so...
Hey everyone!
After a very inspired chat with a fellow US-based aquascaper, I've decided to organise a competitive scape group for UK enthusiasts. The USA have 'The Aquascapers Collective' and I thought, I don't think we have anything similar? (Correct me if I'm wrong).
The premise of the...
Hey George,
This sounds like a great idea. I'm always so intrigued to see what other hobbyists are brewing away in their homes. Some of them are creating masterpieces in silence!
I'm interested in this, I've put some recent pictures below (excuse one has just been trimmed and both recently...
No worries! Yeah I get these tanks are super narrow. I'm not saying you need to fully rescape but a peninsula style would work well on this because of its dimensions.
Some examples I found online (both Fluval Specs);
Welcome Chris!
I think the plants look quite healthy so it's definitely working! I would say scale is definitely important in a scape, especially a small one and because a lot of the plants are big they actually make the scape look smaller. I think also having a transition from foreground to...
I'm most inspired by Chris (@shrimpery on Instagram) in terms of shallow tanks. I'm planning to make a mini version of what he did.

I like it! The only thing that bugs my eye is that flat part of the wood on the left that looks like it's been cleanly cut, it's quite distracting.
You could cover it with plants though :)
