When I chained multiple externals before I did it with Rena xp2's, out to in and so on and it worked fine.
It's just running two via single pipes I'm not certain on as I haven't before, it would be two Eheim 2213's.
What would make you go for two intakes @Edvet?
In the past I have daisy chained filters for added filtration, I'm considering running two of the same externals through the single in/out pipes by joining them with a Y piece.
Has anyone else done this? Can anyone think of any potential problems?
I'm more interested in increasing flow...
I have two of these running in my marine tank, fantastic little powerheads! Nice and quiet, more than powerful enough for their size, easy to put on and take off and a nice matt black colour and great swivel ball head adjustment.
If anyone is looking for a way to increase flow around the tank...
Either the 2217 or Rena xp2, I have used both and think it is fair to say both are as good as each other but I think the Eheim with internal basket removed holds quite a lot more bio media than the trays in the Rena.
I used standard gravel in an old Eheim with internal basket removed and had...
I am thinking of rigging up 2 water filter cannisters to my return pipe, a carbon and a 1 or 5 micron. Has anyone used them and any idea if this will be ok? Its the same canisters you get on a RO unit just without the RO membrane so not sure what effect it will have on the water if any. I am...
There is a 5mm lip on each side of the overflow which could be cut off with a razor blade to give you the 1cm you need to get it in your tank :)
It is just a trim and cutting it off will not cause any problems.
You may be able to shave the over hang sides with a stanley blade to give you that 1cm reduction as they have a thin lip on each side from the moulding of them, I will have a look later and let you know if it would be doable and practical.
I have this running on what will be my shrimp tank, the 600 version
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hang-On-Exter ... 414wt_1165
Shrimp tank is 60x30x35 and approx 50L with wood and substrate added.
I am new to all this planted tank stuff but have kept fish for years, I personally can not think of a fish off the top of my head that will get on with that much flow let alone a shrimp lol
I may be wrong so maybe just wait for others to reply and see what they say.....
