    Frozen Tank

Just be careful - you've been lucky that it didn't smash with the expansion of the ice - I wouldn't do anything that might expose it to extremes of temperatures such as bright lights as the glass might crack!

F1 GP Who do You support

Well I love F1 and want McLaren to win. I think Lewis is a great driver and showed it at the weekend with a car that needs some work on it to get it up to the Ferrari at the moment. I'm sorry but as good a driver as he is I can't stand Alonso - the look on his face after qualifying on...

Can royal mail post to scotland and/or wales-4 fry & plants

AFAIK Royal Mail will not legally carry livestock such as fish through normal post. They are on the restricted items list. IMO fry should not be posted really as they are far too delicate. I hate to think what the mortality might be. Fish should be at least a couple of months old IMO before...

    tropic fish farming

I know of two commercial Koi farms in the UK. One has their open weekend next weekend in Weston-Super-Mare and if you came along you'd get all the info you'd need. Or look at their websites for info - Koi UK and Cuttlebrook Koi.

There is at least one Tilapia farm left that I'm aware of, one that uses hot water from a power station. Not too sure about ornamental farming on any decent scale though.

    tetanus booster

I've just had a series of vaccinations and boosters for my trip to Uganda and they still hurt but I bet you find they don't hurt as much as you remembered. Your mind is capable of making things like that seem much worse than they really are and you're 10 years older now!

    Ashes Final Test

I was a little worried at that point, but it's all good now! Drank far too many beers listening to it today and now going to celebrate! The Ashes are back home, safe and sound for a year and a half! Let's just hope we can put on a better show in Australia next time round than we did last time!!!

The Ashes have to be ours now! Australia have to get 546 to win! No side's got such a total in this country to win a test! Role on a few quick wickets tonight and a few celebratory beers!!!!

    Ashes Final Test

Just getting better and better at the moment! Just watched Trott and Strauss bat very competently for the first session and now England are piling on a few runs! The Aussies should have over 400 to chase and the best 4th innings total to win a test at the Oval was 269 back in 1902!!! Don't...

    Ashes Final Test

Just watched that afternoon session down the pub after playing squash - summer holidays are great!  I'm not sure he's quite that good, but if he keeps working at the batting and bowling you never know! He could even be better! Bit of a change from talk of him being dropped...

    Ashes Final Test

I would take 350 at our current postion but reckon 400 is the score we needed to have a chance of winning. Can't see the last few making that. I just think that it has draw all over it. Our bowlers have to step it up a few gears and bowl in the right places if we are to have a chance. Our...

    Ashes Final Test

Robert Key. Plays for Kent and is class. Played a few tests for England and got some big scores followed by a few very low ones and then got dropped. Obviosuly his face didn't fit as Collingwood can score nothing for years and still get picked! Trott looked good and it was bad luck to get...

    Ashes Final Test

I agree, Prior has worked hard on his batting and his keeping and is now class. I'd have him batting higher up the order at the moment he's that good. I think Straus is very good and our best batsmen at the moment, but world class? The rest of them are not really up to it. They either lack...

    Ashes Final Test

I rate Bell. I think he's really talented but he could be just like Ramps - all the skills but not the right mental approach. Not seen Trott bat so can't really comment but not the best situation to play your first test. Or maybe it's the test a true class batsman will relish?? Personally...

    Ashes Final Test

Yeah not the best start! I hate it when we bat first - I've no confidence in our batting line up today. Would have looked a lot better with Key batting #3 and Bell at 4, if anywhere. Bell's having a very torrid time with the short balls at the moment and that's just silly - you can just let...

    Uganda!

The one of me wading is in Lake Victoria and the ferry is on the lake too. I also flew in over the lake. Saw Oreochromis niloticus at the fish farm and the one pictured in the Nile is a Thoracochromis I think. The Oreochromis are commonly sold as mouthbrooders or tilapia (even in...

The fish and chips were excellent; much tastier than cod! The bird is a Crowned Crane - the national bird of Uganda. This was one that walked out of an enclosure and jumped up right next to me! Saw lots of fantastic wild birds there.

George, roughly how many words do they usually want for an article? I have an old one I wrote about breeding Benitochromis finleyi Mungo but never used. They might be interested in that but I think it may be too long. It wouldn't take much to update it and make it suitable for publication IMHO.

I've been and it's nice but I was a bit disappointed. SNOW!!!!

We've had more so it's white over again!!! I'm just North of Nottingham, near junction 26 of the M1. My friend in West Bridgford has very little there last time she looked outside. I think it'll take 4" before my head will close the school, of then so I'm praying for REALLY heavy snow!!!!

My tank often goes 2 weeks without water changes. In fact it can often go two weeks without ferts too. The benefits of having a nice mature stable tank with Aquasoil IMHO. I get a bit of algae on the older leaves but I'm not paranoid about that.
