Yes, you can use sessiflora....one of the reasons I like to use this method is the stems don't get pushed around the surface as much as floating plants do!
If you are running Co2 I would dose ferts!
It's primarily to combat thread algae as this particular algae can be a pain to eradicate.
Just put the fast-growing plants on the surface....you can always take cuttings and add them to the substrate....then remove them later!
Reduce your lighting to 6 hours and implement the Tutorial below.
Fertilizers don't cause algae, too much light and poor water quality are two causes.
Remove dead or dying plant matter as this only clouds the water more...
Sure you ordered the correct size 6mm is the push-in end and the 4mm stem goes into the tubing!
Or they could have sent you the wrong order?
Do you still have the bag the reducers came inside?
I think you have a 4mm x 6mm......which is the wrong way around!
Something like this...below!

Probably, I use floating plants as an indication of Nitrate deficiencies...I just add a few drops of Solo N if needed!
My aquariums aren't that large so those little 50ml bottles suit me!
These are to try and keep the stock solution Acidic and from having a bacteria growth bloom (Mould)....plus keeping it fresh!
You can purchase them both from Amazon!
Hi
Just make up 250ml of stock solution of Micro Fertilizer!
The vessel weights 3g.
That's about 1 level teaspoon of Micro/Trace powder per 250ml of water.

Teaspoon quantities
I have calculated the amount of each chemical by weighing the amount using a standard teaspoon (5ml) which is available from most kitchen stores...
I think Darrel might be the fellow to answer that question!
Seems that you might have stumbled on something there.....try making a mix up with out the Ascorbic Acid and with distilled water!
I dose just before I switch the lights on!
Glut is a substitute for injected Co2.......so cant see the point dosing when its dark!
Plus it takes 24 hours to break down!
I remember when I had hornwort in my 4-foot aquarium many moons ago...I dosed API Leaf Zone and it turned the hornwort into a mushy mess!
I gave up using it in the end....:meh:

Could be due to impurities as Filip stated....I'm sure the KNO3 I purchased way back did have a slight smell of cheese!

Containers are easily mixed up....especially if not marked up on both the lid and the bottom half of the vessel.
Your KNO3 could be another fertilizer...very similar in colour texture.....KNO3 has a blue cheesy smell to it I've read in the below article by Clive...
Hi
Welcome aboard.....personally I have found limiting Nitrate to below 10ppm induces leaf deformation with my Cryptocoryne!
Plus it tends to decrease the green colouring in certain plants....that's my observations.

This recipe Spezial N - Nitrogen Fertilizer advised to be used at pH below 7.
Considering most tap-water is above that pH.....before injecting Co2 is there any real benefits?
What would the consequences be if dosed regularly at pH 7.5 say with fish/shrimp in the aquarium?
Hi
I think this could be a consequence of how you dose the fertilizer!
Not how much;)
On occasions if I dose Liquid Micro fertilizers too near certain plants...they tend to get burnt shrunken leaves!
Especially Rotala sp rotundifiola!

Hi Simon
Best if you use de-ionsed or distilled water!
Or even RO water.
Add Ascorbic Acid and Potassium Sorbate.
Have a read through the link below....;)

You can purchase Mgso4/Epsom Salt from your local Chemist/Pharmacy!
You may also be able to purchase KNo3/Potassium Nitrate from a Garden Centre.

Hi Victor your making it a tad too complicated.
This is my Standard Dosing regime for EI fertilizers......If I'm running Hi Tec.
These are not set in stone, you can tweak them to suit your domestic daily routine, or which ever system your running Low or Hi Tec.
My rest day from work is a...
Hi Victor
You probably need to reduce your lighting or add floating plants!
Green thread algae is a pain to eradicate as it likes the same conditions as the plants!
Remove as much as possible manually ....you could use this product below!
Cheers

Hi Victor if you have algae issues....you must look elsewhere for the cause or causes!
Poor unhealthy growth in certain plants, is usually down to poor deployment of lighting and fluctuating Co2!
Substrate can even play a part in poor growth....inert substrate like sand/gravel can be a problem...
Hi Victor
Dosing higher levels of fertilizer's do not cause algae issues!
This is a old Urban Myth that we are trying to quell on this Forum......Very high lighting is one off the main instigators of various algae problems.
Poor cleaning routine is another, test kit are unreliable at giving very...
Hi
Just make 2 batches of 24 grams;)
The 48 grams is correct for KNO3.
This solution is based on a Tropica fertilizer recipe.....Plant Nutrition Plus. I think this is a old line and is discontinued?
This is probably the same as the Tropica Specialised Fertiliser.
The 5ml dosing is based on a...

Below are individual Salt Solubility's in water at 20 degrees.
These levels could be less if mixed with other salts or if you mix with cold tap water!
Potassium Nitrate.......................................31g per 100ml
Potassium Phosphate................................ 22g per 100ml...
Hi
Prill.....A prill is a small aggregate or globule of a material, most often a dry sphere, formed from a melted liquid.
Probably meaning its not a powder....more like small pellets...roundish in shape!

Hi Chris
I don't see the point in adding Micro as it is also included in the All in One dry fertilizer!
Potassium Nitrate
Monopotassium Phosphate
Potassium Sulphate
Magnesium Sulphate Heptahydrate
Chelated Trace Elements ..which includes Iron!
Cheers
