    I think fish in an aquascape that actively seeks to imitate a land-based scene (with a waterfall) looks rather odd. So in your case, leaving out fish was a good idea in my opinion. Shrimp and snails can work better.

    Thanks for the very kind words, and hearty congratulation on both your excellent results. Thoroughly deserved, as was Mark's. Aesthetic balance is provided by the rocks, although the main tension stone is hidden by the plants. I quite like some symmetry in aquascaping.

    I rarely use drop checkers mate. Plants/algae tell me if CO2 is too low, fish behaviour (slow to react/feed etc.) if its too high. With low lighting CO2 levels are quite forgiving.

    Thanks guys! :D Lobelia cardinalis. Ideally I would have matured this over 6 months or so, and the Lobelia and Staurogyne in particular could be pruned into proper streets, as per the classic Dutch layouts. I'd recommend a Dutch 'scape to anyone who fancies a challenge!
