Hi, Thanks for bring this back out of the archives. I had forgotten all about this little scape. Cheers.

    1-2-LETS GROW!

Thanks Gareth. It was supposed to have marsilia hersuta as a foreground plant, which did look great. But like many Rhizome plants, they can get infected with fungal out breaks, which killed it off. Hence the gravel foreground. Understandably, Tropica did not want poor health plants on show at...

    1-2-LETS GROW!

Thanks mate. There was no real plan when I did this scape. It was/is a commission from Tropica. So, the goal or objective is to produce a healthy planted tank, using only 1-2-GROW and it be transportable to take to Aqua2010. With that in mind I set out on the idea that it should be kept...

    1-2-LETS GROW!

Nice one George, thanks. Edwards - groundbreaking, now that would be nice. Andy, I plant up, and leave alone, no fish, shrimp etc. After about a week or so, the plant will start to show signs of growth/settling in. I prune as hard back as I can, which is tricky as the roots are still very...

    Nano Tor, Andyh's 35l

Re: “Nano Tor”, Andyh's 35l Nano Scape Good work on the new nano Mate. One tank just isnt enough is it. I was reading through scream, UG wont like the ADA, and then the penny dropped on page 2. It hates nutrients that plant. Stick it on your windowsill and it will do just fine. One thing...

    1-2-LETS GROW!

Thanks Peter. It was a bit of a, lets see what I have in this box, kind of hardscape, done and dusted in an hour or so. Not my usual attention to the finer details. Though im still reasonably happy with it. I do think the great health of the plants goes a long way to making a tank look good, not...

    1-2-LETS GROW!

The light is a TMC aquaray 1000 tile. Its not mine, its on permanent loan at the moment. For this tank, and maybe a little bigger it is brilliant. You can ramp up the power from 0% to 100%. 100% is supposed to be equal to 150W metal halide. Im not so sure. But the beauty is the fact that you can...

Re: NeilW's 30cm nano - 'Mono' Well done Neil, you have done a great job there. A real gem of a nano. The cheep T5 doesnt look out of place amongst the ADA and opti white gear. Attention to detail has been your success here and its more so a skill when working on nano's. Great stuff. P.S...

Thats the most rounded and honest post you have written about EI that I have seen, Clive. Nice one. Paul's 200L, "Punishment of Luxury"

Good EI discussion (split from Paul's 200L journal) Yep, this, along perhaps with the Co2 issue you had will have done it. In hindsight, what you would of been better doing, is doing a few extra water changes and cutting your ferts down until things grew in again. This is where in my opinion...

    Paul's 200L, "Punishment of Luxury"

Wow, what happened here. The algae monster has released his evil seeds.... Paul, my advice to you is remove as much of the algae as you can. Leave any plants that look healthy or recoverable underneath. Do a large water change and then black it out providing an air stone at the same time...

Swamp Creek - 2 years on updated June 2012

Re: Swamp Creek - established 20/04/2010 I would recommend a lid for the 1st night of any fish introduction. If they are going to jump, it will happen the 1st night. Some fish just jump. Rasboras are the worst IMO. Those and hatchets. You wont have an issue when you get a glass lid for the tank.

Both plants can, if need be, be cut right back to the base. Having said that, you wont want to do that with your crypts, just cut all the emersed leafs out and leave the lovely new ones. With the Java furn, cut all the old leaves off, and again leave the newer leaves. It will look so much...

    'Deep Rooted' - Andyh's 35l Nano

Looks great Andy. At this point, I would be considering trimming all the old/original leafs off the Microsurm. The leaves that we see are doing nothing for your plant, or your layout, and you would be doing the plant a favor, encouraging it to put new growth out. Same goes for the crypts too...

I really doubt it. I had to add a different bulb to fit into the standard light that came with it. Then, after that Co2 was a must. Without Foundation - James Maslin

I think its pretty cool. Very novel, but some how, it works. It shouldn't, given the subject, but to speak with artistic tongues, it seems to say allot about how we see our own personal spaces in the Uk, its a shame to me. I see this in fields and parks around the UK amd it is a common sight...
