Green dust algae on day 6 of dosing every week?!

I can't see how it would appear and disappear that quickly, seems very strange to me, something I've never seen.

Up your water changes for a bit until the tank settles down.

    HC Health Diagnosis

Not really, no. Whenever I've used it, it tends to spread, but gets tall, about 10cm high. This was with good flow and c02. This was my hm on the left and right, see how high it gets.

    Brown algae on redmoor?

This is quite normal for redmoor. All the redmoor I've ever used has done this. It'll soon go, the shrimp love it!

    Treatment of Cyanobacteria with Erythromycin.

I don't like to see antibiotics used for these kind of things. I see first hand what antibiotic resistance does to people. These antibiotics are washed into the waterways after you've done your water changes. I know it's a low does, and I know everybody doesn't do it. These antibiotics are not...

    Take a deep breath...

Sorry, yes mine were the 500's, it would be interesting to get par readings. They claim to be brighter, and I agree the 600 are brighter, but this doesn't mean stronger light. Mine were about 6" from the water surface.

    Take a deep breath...

I have to agree with this...I have used the same set up as you and didn't have any problems. I think you need to ensure flow, and nutrients are at a decent level. In most cases diatoms go on their own accord.

    algae back with a vengance

The cause will be too much light, Mark. It's always the cause. I'd be a little wary of cutting back on your n and p dosing as well. Is the flow good enough at that level? Have you got some Amanos in there?

What is this and how do I kill it

same here Tom, Erythromycin is now only used as a fourth line now. We use it very very rarely now. It's even been taken from our drug cupboards as most of it was going out of date. It'll be back though, they always rotate the use of ABX, it stops us mortals from becoming resistance.

Killing algae without using easy carbon????

That said i have only seen it once in our A+E dept, and it wasn't pretty.

Killing algae without using easy carbon????

sometimes boiling rocks isn't the safest option, they can sometimes contain trapped air with in turn can explode.

what kind of algae is this please?

I agree with Mark there, and also agree that that layout looks great! The plants look super healthy. Have you got a CUC in there at all? Diatoms will eventually go on there own, or you could add a few Ottos, they love the stuff!

Grr, wasn't expecting this... Help / Advice please ?

substrate in a planted tank does not need turning...the anaerobic gases are used bu the plant roots and if they do hit the main water column they don't cause any harm. as above, looks like detritus build up.

GDA, how to get rid of it

it's a bit OTT for GDA removal IMO. I work with antibiotics everyday and everyday something new becomes resistant, here's another for you. I know that over here in the UK you will struggle to get a prescription for Erythromycin for an algae outbreak. Luckily vets are now taking things like...

    Easylife Blue Exit

i had a little under substrate BGA a bit ago in my corner tank, it was just in one spot right in the corner and tried to up the flow in the corners, but struggled. I opted for TPN+ capsules for under the substrate, and bish bash bosh, it never appeared again.
