    Godswood - my personal paradise.

@Aqua360 I agree with you in general, but I'd add that more diversity in fish (but still lightly stocked) can fit a more wild jungle style scape really well imo.

I got hold of a micro worm starter culture. The ember tetras seems to enjoy them a lot. Corys are still hiding almost all the time and I think I might have lost a few. I had one confirmed loss some weeks ago and I've only been able to spot 5 together recently. More might be alive though since...

Looking good. Really like the "cave" under the wood.

    60-P "Succession"

@CooKieS It's on my wishlist :) Btw the ember tetras has become extremely skittish lately. They hide just if I move around in the room. They used to be more calm.. Don't really know why. And I almost never see the pygmy corys anymore..

    Kitchen Nano

Very cool hardscape! Looks good as it is. The moss balls aren't looking to vibrant but that's maybe just the light? I think really small stem plants like micranthemum umbrosum could look good in the background and Hemianthus callitrichoides 'cuba' and Monte Carlo in the foreground. Mayne some...

MC is planted! Not the easiest species to plant in a running tank. Hope that some of it actually stays in the soil long enough to grow roots.

    16 l shrimp jungle

I kept a few plantlets and transferred to my 60-p. Unfortunately no. It kinda looks like sagitaria, not super interesting unless it's flowering. No going to start it from scratch with new plants :)

    16 l shrimp jungle

I've actually just emptied the tank today. Had it running with some emersed plants (baldellia repens) for a while, but I want to start it up again with water soon. Need to get a new filter first though as the HOB it came with just is too noisy. And would also like some CO2 on it again.

    60-P "Succession"

Haven't watched Filipe's video yet, but his work is always great. :) I'm not sure, but I suspect that the soil that i capped with sand actually started to move up trough the sand over time. I think my next few scapes will be soil only or at least have a very good barrier between sand and soil...
  16. JEK

    Ada 60P, 'behind blue eyes'

I've also seen some staghorn in my 60 p recently. Not worse than spotdosing excel and removing infected leaves got rid of it. You could also try my low co2, low nutrient approach ;) Everything slows down then, including algae.

    60-P "Succession"

Thank you! I really like triangular compositions as well, but I feel like I'm doing them too much so next scape will be a v shape. And I'll try to make the hardscape more maitenance friendly and limit the number of species to under 10 next time ( I have over 20 species of plants in this scape :D).
  24. JEK

    60-P "Succession"

Thanks! Starting to get the itch to rescape it though. So many things to improve!

Not much to report here except that the glassware is slightly dirtier than last time and that the moss is starting to grown in.

    60-P "Succession"

I always felt like one of the branches had an unnatural angle compared to the others, so I removed. Do you think it looks better without it or should I add it back in? Btw, I'm running very low CO2 levels - around 0.3 bps - the drop checker never gets green. So relatively high light, lean...

    ADA 90P - "Low Roar"

Nice video. I especially like your use of bolbitis and wavy bucephalandra. And you really keep everything spotless. How long time do you use on maintenance weekly if you don't mind me asking?
  30. JEK

    300l build layout

I like salvinia auriculata as the roots doesn't get too long. I will float around with the surface current, which can be a bit annoying but you can always remove them when your tank is more mature and has more active growth and higher plant biomass.

Post trim Just added more Corydoras pygmaeus to a total of 9 and 15 Hyphessobrycon amandae. I've removed the moss balls again and added some small rocks with taiwan moss glued on. Just can't have a tank without moss it seems:D

Thanks for your comments. Will play a bit around with the green algae and small rocks. Have also considered adding moss to the tanks.. @Wookii Hmm I've had those for a while. I think the larger one is some sort of 'red' variety and the one with really small leaves is 'Lamandau mini red' if I...

    MrStoffel's 60-P - Taken by storm

Eleocharis 'mini' is a nice and easy carpeting plant. I think the scape would look great with glossostigma but that one is a bit trickier to keep compact.
  49. JEK

    60-P "Succession"

Thanks a lot! The mossy clumps are Aegagropila linnaei (actually a green algae).
  53. JEK

    60-P "Succession"

New additions; Hygrophila pinnatifida and Myriophyllum 'Guyana'. Myriophyllum is planted behind the Blyxa instead of Bacopa caroliniana as I found the leaf size to large for that part of the tank. I think the Hygrophila will (and already has) improved the shade/light balance a lot.
  54. JEK

    60-P "Succession"

Cool! Then I won't rule them out. Some new plant additions as well as livestock coming up later today. Watch this space ;-)

    MrStoffel's 60-P - Taken by storm

Looks like an old fallen tree - I like it. I think it could look great with some moss and ferns growing on the driftwood. Maybe you could place some of the other small pieces so they look like sidebranches from the main trunk? You could glue them on with superglue if needed. @alto No worries -...

  61. JEK

    MrStoffel's 60-P - Taken by storm

I think your newesr idea could look good! But I would probably place the rocks a bit flatter because you can raise the wood a lot just with sloping substrate.
  62. JEK

    MrStoffel's 60-P - Taken by storm

@MrStoffel that new piece of driftwood looks great! If it floats a possible solution could also be to glue it to stone. As far as I know people usually just place powersand on the bottom with soil on top. @alto I don't want to derail Mrstoffels thread with this discussion, but I think your...
  63. JEK

    MrStoffel's 60-P - Taken by storm

I have to disagree with you there, I simply don't think anyone can make a "very nice" layout with only the materials we see in the pictures - unless it's Dutch style. ;-) Sure you don't need huge ammounts like the trend is today, but those pieces of driftwood we see on the pictures are simply...

Stunning! Is it flame moss in the backmost right?
  65. JEK

    60-P "Succession"

Thanks! It's a type of green algae Aegagropila linnaei, also known as moss balls or marimo balls. Wanted to try them out a lower maintenance alternative to moss (they grow extremely slowly).
  66. JEK

    60x40x40cm Dragon stone iwagumi

Dragonstone combined with all those reddish stem plants will create some really nice warm colours! Nicely done!
  67. JEK

    MrStoffel's 60-P - Taken by storm

So my advice for hardscape is to first and foremost get a lot more of it. You simply don't have enough materials to create a high impact hardscape. And don't try to find the "perfect" piece of wood because that's really hard. ;) You can always saw pieces off and glue several pieces together to...

  71. JEK

    60-P "Succession"

So I'm happy with the left side (first picture), but unsure if I should extend the soil part of the right side so there's space for a few more plants. What do you guys think? Also; should I add some moss on a few of the branches? I've been debating with myself whether to do it or not..
  72. JEK

    d2's Planted Tank Adventurama

Is it a big batch of plants coming up? I would be a little worried if I had such a small plant biomass at the beginning. Maybe add some floating plants? Ember tetras look great!

Reassuring to hear. I like the green to pop the most so seems like the e series was right for me :-)
  75. JEK

    60-P "Succession"

Yeah I bought it because it was a bit cheaper and I actually like the look better compared to the s series. I'm not growing super demanding plants so it's more than enough.

    60-P "Succession"

Thanks! Inspired by MD Fish Tanks I decided to keep it low-tech and have just ordered plants. Foreground: "Moss" balls, some accents of Eleocharis "mini", Hydrocotyle cf. tripartita growing over the stones. Midground/epiphytes: Anubias "Petite", some bucephalandras, some accents with java...
