Bit difficult not to when opening the page as it's right in front of me. I've a large screen so can get a lot on in one go. First answer given 10 minutes after the puzzle was posted.
Don't forget the apps that work with this forum. There are 2 to choose from, but they both do the same thing more or less.

Been a bit quiet recently as I've been busy and also I've got a really sore back after building the construction below. You wouldn't believe how much it weighs and I had to manouver it into place. Not quite sure if I built it for my son or me but the wife knows for sure it was for the big kid in...
You worked at Rolling Thunder in Brentford? Wow that's the skate park I went to when I was young. There's some pictures of it here - http://vintageskateboardmagazines.com/Skateboard!%28UK%29Issues/Skateboard!%28UK%29Issue16.html. I used to love the half pipe which was 55 metres long and had 1/2...
Hard to believe but I've taken up skateboarding again after a 30 break. My 9 year old son brought a skateboard with his xmas money and so I dug out my old boards from the garage. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed from before so have now treated myself to a new board. Things have come a long way...
I remembered this post from a while ago. As a side earner I fix up old laptops to sell and have just brought a second hand screen that when turned on had exactly the same thing as Aaron's above. I dismantled the LCD panel and sure enough there between the front glass screen and the polarizing...
Toshibas are my choice at the moment and are what I buy at work for everyone. I used to buy HP but am not so happy with them anymore. Gone downhill since the good old Compaq days.
James
It's just my opinion though. I've worked with loads of laptops for years and you get a feel for them. Even the best ones have faults like HP's bending ones that freeze up due to poorly designed main boards. There will always be 'lemons' and you take your chances. What you don't want is a company...
Please don't buy a Dell laptop.
They have a poorly designed power adapter design that has caused many people no end of trouble. Their support and service is appauling and fob you off with new power adapters that they know aren't going to last long and if you are out of warranty then you are...
chilled84 - could please chill out a bit and stop being so aggressive. Just because you don't like Vista doesn't mean that everybody else has to dislike it as well. Yes, it has some problems but for most home users it works well and is my preferred choice for home use as well.
PS, a spell...
I quite like linux and have used it since about '94 when I used the slackware distro. Back then it was a real pain with lots of script hacks needed to get anything to work. Since then I've used a few different distro's with red hat being the main one. A couple of years ago I started using ubuntu...
Could be because it has 2 controllers, IDE and SATA. The IDE controller will report no HDD found, which is correct, and possibly the SATA controller doesn't report, or is so fast that you don't see it.

This is a superb discussion about sending parcels - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1397925. I always keep an eye on it when I need to send parcels. First few posts list the different prices of the different companies. They also tell you the ones to avoid.

Could be worth a try but I'd be amazed if it worked as the units are pretty well sealed. I'm actually amazed it managed to get in in the first place.
What might work and is at your own risk is to tap the screen whilst gently twisting it. This may dislodge the insect so it drops out of view. Be...
You can dismantle the screen but it is a very tricky thing to do. You must try not to touch the polarising sheets or get any dust or dirt on them once it's opened up otherwise it will look a million times worse than it is now. I've opened up many screens to fix them and find it fairly easy now...
Just got back from a great afternoon at Thorpe Park. 'Saw - The Ride' is pretty good and just to make sure I liked it I went on 6 times :D . The first part is in the dark and has an almost vertical drop which if you're not expecting is quite scarry. Then you go to the main outside section which...
Being a Merlin annual pass holder I've got exclusive tickets to the preview opening of 'Saw - The Ride' this Friday 13th at Thorpe Park. Should be great fun. I'm just a big kid really. Anyone else from here going?

There's currently not enough posts to start splitting the topics and creating new ones for nano's, etc.
A large number of people find it extremely difficult to post under the correct topic heading as it is, which takes up lots of the mods time in moving the threads to the correct area. Creating...
It was like those calling cards that appear in telephone boxes in London. Interesting at first but then becoming a blinking nuisance for the majority with only a few finding any interest in them.
This argument has been raging on for years. As with everything some people are more susceptable than others. The advice is not to let children use them as their skulls are thinner and the brain is still developing.
Out of interest on a similar theme I've just had to remove our wireless network...
I thought you northerners were supposed to be tough and not let a little bit of snow stop you!!! We ended up here in Kent with just over a foot of snow, but unfortunately the rain last night seems to have melted most of it.

Just measured it here and it's at a couple of inches at the mo. Still coming down really heavy. They just mentioned on the local news that the south east has been the worst hit so far.

Hi Simon.
Sorry to hear it's still not fixed. It could be a DNS problem. I use OpenDNS servers for my DNS lookups which work really well. If you know how then change your DNS servers in your network settings to these - 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 - and let me know how you get on.

And many, many others.
Never used Hotmail as it was always a spammers heaven and many places blocked their emails.
What I found amusing many years ago when Hotmail first appeared is that they used linux servers and sendmail. This was at the same time that Microsoft had an advertising campaign...

The problem is Hotmail block whole swathes of people because of their email servers IP address. If you just so happen to use the same email server as someone who is a bit dodgy then your emails get blocked as well. I can't send emails from either my home account or my work account to any hotmail...
Microsoft seem to have gone overboard on their Hotmail accounts. I'm unable to send email to any Hotmail accounts which is a right royal pain. Anyone else here getting the same problem? Did a Google and found a large number of other people having exactly the same problem.

It's one of two things. Most likely the inverter has gone which luckily is fairly straight forward to replace as long as you are happy with opening up your monitor. Get the code off the inverter and do an ebay search where you should be able to find one pretty cheap. If not this then it's the...
Not that I've found. I have plenty of moans about ebay but as long as you are sensible who you buy from then it's not too bad. I buy bust laptops on ebay and fix them which I then sell on for a nice profit. There are so many for sale so you can often pick up an absolute bargain. Brand new HP...
Andy, you should try Google Chrome which in my opinion blows all the other browsers away. Still in beta but looks very promising for the future. It suffers the same prob as safari in that you can't pay for things on ebay as it's not supported, but interestingly it did work fine up until just...
Until now I've used Internet Explorer mainly because there is very little at the top in the way of toolbars, etc. As I use a widescreen I like to have as little space used up at the top as possible, but Firefox just has too much for me. This is where Chrome excels and one of the reasons I like...
Decided to give Google's new Chrome browser a whirl and am extremely impressed with it. Still in beta so has a few things to iron out but IMHO it is the way to go with it's simplicity. I now use it all the time.
Have used a few browsers in my time and so far this is the one I like most. Started...
Ditto.
Used to love F1 and never missed a race. Now it's very rare that I do actually watch one. Far too boring and political for me.
MotoGP for me now.
James
If that is all the mouse did then I'd guess you are ok, especially if you've used all those programs to check. The way you said how the mouse looked like it was being controlled got me thinking, that's all.
James
Sounds as though you may have a remote control trojan on your pc. Not all anti-virus catch these. If you have, your whole pc has been compromised. This may also mean that if you have any microphones or webcams attached people may even been able to listen to you and watch you. Do you store bank...
I noticed that as well when we first switced over to the new forum. Seems that if you send a PM to someone it remains in your outbox until the recipient has read it. In some ways it's quite handy as it allows you to modify it before the other person reads it.
James
Wow Graeme that's fantastic. Nothing like a good ride to free the mind. Smart bike and jacket to match then. Often thought about getting a trail bike but without going a long way there's very little space to ride it round here. Still got my 1200 Suzuki Bandit I had last year when we met up at...
Cheap and cheerful with a short life expectancy. I only learnt recently that their sale products are cheapo products especially made for the sales.
Unless you're strapped for cash go to John Lewis or another respectable store and buy a decent one as it will last years longer.
James
'Denn earl' for me but I usually miles out with my pronunciation.
Talking about beer when I lived in Brussels there was a beer there called Maes Pils which is pronounced Mars Pils.

Just popped into Thorpe Park after work today to have a few rides on the stealth but it was closed due to technical problems :( . Had to settle with a few rides on Colossus which holds the world record for the number of upside downs on a single ride at 10.
Been close on 15 years since I was...
Anybody here been on Stealth at Thorpe Park? For those that have no idea what I'm on about - http://www.themeparks-uk.com/thorpe_park_stealth.html. It's the highest roller coaster in Europe.
I'm addicted to it. The new improved Stealth accelerates you from 0 to 80 mph in 1.8 seconds and then...
What an appalling listing. Capitals all the way through with absolutely no attention to detail and poor spelling. The type of seller I stay well clear of.
See somebody has made an offer though.
James
Well done. Great game rugby. Used to play when I was younger but now just a spectator for my son who plays for the Dartfordians.
The owners of the cars in your last photo are brave as I wouldn't park that close!!
James
I've modified the code now so hopefully everyone except admin should no longer see the search engine bots in the user list. Let me know if you do though.
Thanks
James
All the search engines have their own bots that trawl the internet indexing it so as to make searches easier. To have our forum searched we have to have them allowed on as users so they are able to see it. There are certains parts that they can't see of course. As they are users they therefore...
I started subscribing to PFK in about 1987. Never got any free offers in those days except for a reddish brown coloured binder to put all your issues in. Used to have years and years worth, but then chucked them for some reason. Be quite interesting to have looked back at them now.
Still think...
Hi Matt,
It's good to hear from you. Sounds as though you're doing really well at college. Well done.
Thanks for letting everone know what you're up to
James
I've been using ebay for quite a few years now as a seller and buyer. I used to enjoy the ebay experience but it is becoming rip-off central, especially with regards to P&P. As mentioned earlier I don't leave negative feedback as I know the seller will do exactly the same to me even though I've...
Showing my age a bit here. I used to skateboard loads when it first became popular in about 1975. Still got my two boards now after all this time, a Z Ply and a Gordon & Smith. The Gordon & Smith board has been used to move engines around but the Z Ply is my favourite and I even get on it every...
