    Canon's DPP upgrade

Thanks Mark, will make sure I upgrade!
  3. Joecoral

    Which lens?

Like mark said it depends what you want it for. If you want to replace your 18-55 then the 17-55 f/2.8 is a fantastic lens

Longleat Safari Park - holiday photo's

Re: Longleat Safari Park Some fantastic shots there, I always enjoy going to Longleat, been there quite a fwe times in recent years. My understanding is that a UV filter reduces glare such as the light being reflected off the water which is what seems to be the problem you are having :?:

    My first photo contest

Wow, George! Your photography really has come on leaps and bounds, there are some absolutely amazing shots in there, it's no wonder you won so many first places! Congrats mate

I like Macs, I love how they look so sleek and sexy, and are very good for photo/video editing. The saying is so very true "pc users swear at their computers, mac users swear by their computers", but I will still always stick with a pc for the forseeable future. I don't like the idea of paying...

    450d lenses or compatibles

The best EF-S lens imo is the 17-55mm f/2.8, blows the kit lens out of the water, is a bit pricey tho

    Recomendations for online Camera gear.

I agree with all the above regarding the 1.8, in terms of what you get for the money you spend, you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal on any lens. Don't own it myself but borrowed a friends for a while, image quality is very good

    Banggai Cardinalfish

They are very cool fish. Mouth brooders, spit the fry amongst the spines of an urchin to protect them once they hatch. Fortunately all the ones you see in shops these days are tank bred

    Plec Pics

Do you shoot in RAW or JPEG? If you use RAW, you can fiddle around with the white balance after you've taken the shot. I have the same camera as you and I use the Digital Photo Professional software that came with the camera to alter the WB

    Who needs plants, anyway!?

Not a lot of people do this anymore. There are some really well scaped tanks out there at the moment, have a browse of some reefing forums and you'll find some stunners about :D
  23. Joecoral

    Who needs plants, anyway!?

Nice shot, looks great George! Like the naturalness of it  Reef or fish only? Gimme a shout if you do take the plunge, I may be able to recommend a thing or 2 :D

Restoring an old forge - Photos.

I'm not quite up to your level yet Steve, usually stick to aperture priority mode, usually serves me well enough. Always shoot in RAW tho, adjust levels/wb etc in Digital Photo Professional, the into PS Elements to crop, add frame/signature etc.
  25. Joecoral

Restoring an old forge - Photos.

    Amen brother Mark!
  26. Joecoral

    what photo packages?

I use Photoshop Elements and Canon Digital Photo Professional
  27. Joecoral

    Sepia portrait

I like it a lot George! Personally I would go with a slightly tighter crop to cut out some of the black to the right, but other than that an excellent effort! Keep 'em coming!

    Nikon D3X

Canon 5D anyone? Sale at 7dayshop.

If I could just get the body for £579 and not have to pay an extra £1700 for those 2 lenses like on that link I would seriously consider it
  36. Joecoral

Canon 5D anyone? Sale at 7dayshop.

Considering the value of the 2 lenses it comes with is around £1700, its a good deal. Mainly because theres a new updated 5D mkII just come out, so the old models are getting sold off cheap

    best budget camera

If you fancy a DSLR, both Canon and Nikon offer very good "entry-level" models. I currently use a canon 400D which was the cheapest canon when I bought it and is great, I'm really pleased with it, although they have since introduced the cheaper 450D Are you after a DSLR (which takes a bit of...

    Difference?

Whats the difference between the 50mm f/1.8, and the 50mm f/2.5 Macro? I understand the aperture is a little wider on the 1.8, but why is it not marketed as macro whilst the 2.5 is? and why does "macro" make it more expensive?
