I used to use a cheap pond pump I got from the lfs to do water changes which went via a hose pipe out the front door and down the drain. I didn't bother with the filling the bath bit either, just filled the tank straight from the hose pipe and added dechlor as it was filling

Where did you get it from? My first point of call would be to contact the retailer

I'm assuming a "packet of silicone" is what one would use to seal their shower or bath other bathroom type things, like you would use in a mastic-gun. More of a tube than a packet

the best halide reflectors by far are the Lumenarcs, but they are ugly as sin to look at, so might need hiding!

I've used a similar product before, was made by Habistat. Very good, would recommend

Just received my Eth300 today, and I just wanted to confirm which way you need to turn the blue bits to hold the hose in place I assume you start off with the blue bits nearest the heater itself, push the hose on, then "unscrew" them so they move down over the hose, assuming holding it in...

a sharp razor blade will remove any left behind silicon from the glass with ease
