Hi @NorthernDan moler clay(Danish pink) will not turn to mush it retains shape indefinitely. My is been in tank for over couple of years now.No break down and no dust. Akadama(different product used in past)on other side is softer and that can potentially break down but I have not used...

Hi BBQ lava is good,so is alfagrog or just nip in at local B&Q or garden centre and pick some inert gravel intended for driveways and such. I used to get some bonsai growing media from kaizen bonsai (crushed lava, moler clay ...)too in the past but don't know their recent prices. Regards Konstantin

    Hello from Beckenham!

Welcome @ukaps. Voted with No. High level of livestock will add too much together with plant waste and U will find yourself batling stubborn algae all the time. I have high stock levels in one of my tanks and its struggle to keep things in check even with high plant mass( including floaters) and...

Going Green for the first time

Hi Im afraid with tank that big its not going to be easy to grow carpet from the usual plants considered (DHG,Lilaeopsis, monte carlo they all need good light ,ferts and usually CO2 suplement to carpet) With that tank I will consider Cryptocorine as A foreground plants. If they have good light...

    Hello!

Hi The ammount of bacteria in filter will have very little to do with the low stocking in his tank. The plant mass will provide more than enough food for bacteria to develop in sufficient numbers given time (6-8 weeks if filter is new) Then add your Embers and a week later add the Danios Have a...

    Help Needed

Hi The only deficiency is the CO2 as while being grow emersed they had 400ppm CO2 now underwater without injection (30ppm optimal but still much lower) they have sth like 5ppm.Some leaves will die off inevitably ,they are not suitable for life underwater as others keep telling U. Lower light...

    Help Needed

Hi Zion Don't panic yet. Your plants are planted recently. Its very likely when U bought them they are from a nursery grown emersed. It takes time for them to settle in and adapt for life underwater.U need to reduce your photoperiod to about 4-6hours till your CO2 comes that will slow things...

    Hi Everyone

Welcome Andy To pull off Cryptocorines on decor (the ones on the left root)U will have to provide very good conditions (fertilisers and CO2)for them.If I were U will plant them in substrate near the base of them roots(Stones )and replace them with Anubias, Java fern,Buces or moss varieties .Any...

    Hi to all :)

Hi £15 pounds is probably next day before 1pm courier delivery and tbh is something quite normal as a cost if U add decent packaging included in it. I am quite happy to pay them knowing my livestock will arrive quickly and in good shape. Regards Konsa

    Hello from Surrey

You are welcome Chris. Doubt that adding more light will sort the Glosso as it will most likely be the CO2 that will be the issue.Monte Carlo,Marsilea, lilaeopsis brasiliensis are easy to grow in low light (low tech ) or with liquid carbon. All the best with your setup. Regards Konsa

    Hello from Surrey

Hi The plants browning is possibly just a transition they will have to adapt to life underwater.U will have some melt due to them being grown emersed in the nurseries.Just keep removing the bad leaves and they will bounce back.Good tank husbandry is essential during that stage. Not sure how...

    Hello there

Welcome Adam. Its a big tank you have there.I will advice U to go low tech as a start and when U get your head arround the growing healty plants bit then if U still wish go CO2.It is not easy to get the CO2,flow and distribution of nutrients right it big tanks and it will be much better if U...
