Snails - love or hate them?

I know MTS overpopulation comes from overfeeding fish. Don't know what the story is with the ramshorns though, they just breed & breed. I never put any kind of food in my tank, just a shelled pea or two once every 2 weeks.

Snails - love or hate them?

I like snails, I've got a horned & zebra nerite. Loads of ramshorns too, they do a great job of keeping the smaller plants clean. But again, they breed at a ridiculous rate! My tank actually just houses cleaners, RCS.. Otos and snails! MTS, Red and Brown Ramshorns and Nerites.

A Few Photos of My Fish Bowl

I LOVE your tanks! This is brilliant! Not to mention the shots and the gorgeous backdrop :O What is the emergent plant that looks like a circle made up of tiny triangular leaves ? Very interesting. Looks just great.

    'scape critique

I like it the way it is. What's your plant list like ? If I were to say one negative thing... It would be that the stones aren't far enough out of the substrate. You should try and make them more "pronounced" looking. :D

    escaping shrimps

Just drop water level an inch if it's open top. Doesn't stop snails unfortunately, been finding my nerite everywhere.

    Do I need a filter?

You would be able to get away with a powerhead, but you're going to need to dose ferts if you're going with CO2 and high light. What light are you going to use ? Regards

    Free Nano Tank at PFK

I would agree with this, even on the YouTube video they look sort of flimsy and look like the hinge on the back would end up breaking. Not impressed with them really, but IMO anything free is good

    Arcadia Arc 35l

Depends on what you're looking for, if you choose high lighting for plants with high light requirements, you will probably need to inject CO2 aswell. What kind of plants are you planning on using ?

    Gravel or sand

Garden dividers. They'll hold it in place http://www.diy.com/nav/garden/fencing-p ... m-10278271 Then make sure you do some planting along the part where gravel meets sand. Or even some small rocks as a border. Otherwise it'll mix. Take a look at a few journals on here - they'll help you out...

    Planning my first planted tank...

Get reading mate on lighting, ferts, correct fishless cycling etc. UKAPS is a great resource :) Use it wisely :D Start looking up Low Tech plants, Java ferns, Anubias, Moss etc. Make a plants list of what you'd like, and what you could use as a good substrate for them. Advice on plecs.. I don't...

Is flow necessary for plant growth?

Can I just ask why have you got no flow in that tank Master3z ? Kris
  21. Kristoph91

Is flow necessary for plant growth?

Its not necessary I'm sure.. But lack of it causes algae problems, nutrient movement around the tank would be a minimum.. why do you ask anyway? Doing a still water tank? Sorry for being nosey! Kris

It apparently comes with a filter and heater, im guessing the stock lights won't be the best.. but i could always get new ones. JenCliBee what do you think of the stock lights in the hood ? Assuming you have had one or something?

Low Light Plants For Nano RCS Tank ?

My girlfriend bought me the Aquael "Shrimp Set 30" recently, and i have the Fluval "Shrimp Substrate" in it, and a few RCS. The light is 11w and it came with the tank, along with a sponge filter and heater. The tanks volume is 30L so i know the lighting is not very good at all, i think its...
