    Otocinclus with Tannins?

I think tannins are good for most fish anyway. If you ever have a look at Otocinclus' native habitat, you'll see that they literally live back to back in shallow muddy ponds that you cant see into.

    Micro Rasboras?

They were silver/grey in colour and very very tiny. Like less than a cm. They may have been young ? €2.99 each still quite expensive for such a tiny tiny thing! I was thinking maybe they'd be shrimp safe because they're so small ?

    Micro Rasboras?

    Dwarf gourami pair breeding

Thanks for the replies guys, very helpful. Since today, I have aerated the tank by use of an inbuilt venturi on the filter itself (which I didn't have on before as I didn't like the effect it gave on the flow) and fitted a glass cover lid. They've done the dance unfortunately, so I've missed...

    Dwarf gourami pair breeding

I have a male and a female dwarf gourami, and the male has spent the last two days pulling apart my moss and building a big bubble nest underneath my floating plants. I've removed all other fish in the tank, and he is now courtibg her. They just keep spinning around below the bubble nest...

Step 1. Buy a Kinder Egg. (Eat it and make the toy) Step 2. Take the container use the discard the shorter half of it. Step 3. Find a pill container or something cylindrical in shape that has nearly the same radius as the kinder egg toy container. Step 4. I used a hot match for this, Make a...

    parasitic worms?

I found out it was Planaria in the end. Made a little trap for them using a Kinder Easter egg plastic toy package.. and a medication jar/bottle. Caught loads of the buggers. Think my Kili's ate the rest, never saw them ever again. I'd say try out the trap before you spend money on chems. Kris

    Otto disappeared

Ah that's sad. I lost a hatchet like that 3 weeks ago. Fed it to the Oscar afterwards, he took it like a crisp .. Eugh. Anyway, yes do that, but maybe drip acclimatise him in the bag first - just incase theres a composition difference In the water. Hope he does okay in the large group. Good...

    Otto disappeared

It might have jumped mate, have alook behind the tank. I hate losing fish, and otos are bloody hard to get right unless your tank is very settled and mature. Kris

    parasitic worms?

I woke up today to a dead fish sucked against the intake of my filter. Had no idea why it died, no signs of any disease externally.. then I was doing a bit of maintenance this evening and came across a tiny white worm. About a cm long and as thin as a thread. Could this be a parasite? If so, do...

Sadly these two little guys passed away today. They were wriggling around quite well yesterday, seemed like they had some sort of brain damage though.. But this morning no movement at all. Sad, but thats going to teach me a lesson. Kris.

    Ottos in a New Tank

Antipofish, You can also use blanched courgette. I think its more nutritious than cucumber or something. Also, put a small cup of frozen peas in the microwave (no water in the cup) and cook for about two mins. Then you can squeeze each pea in between your fingers till the shell pops off. They...

    stocking help

Look up certain Biotopes online, they'll give you stocking instructions for certain areas. Also you might have to use different expensive media I'm guessing, even if the filter is rated at a high flow. Kris

    Gassed Neons?

My DIY CO2 went haywire last night, I think I added too much yeast. Usually I can leave it on at night no problem and the fish will be fine. But I bought two neons yesterday - and woke up this morning to find them gasping and being blown around the tank, seemingly unconscious ? I...

    Stiphodon Simoni

I was back home in Ireland this week, and the LFS had 2 of them but didnt know what they were. I just knew their names, nothing about them. But even though they didn't know what they were, I still had to get her down to €6.95.

Blue Dwarf Gourami And Red Cherries?

i was thinking of having neons, but they seem more suited to a heavily planted tank IMO, they look much nicer in one. So, Rummynoses then. I am trying to find a few otocinclus to clean the tank.. But they're so hard to find in Ireland!!

Blue Dwarf Gourami And Red Cherries?

Thanks for the replies! . I better move the gouramies into my community tank then! I don't want to risk leaving them in at all now. :O Anybody know of any schooling fish that will be OK with the shrimp?

Blue Dwarf Gourami And Red Cherries?

I have two juvenile blue dwarf gouramies, they seem to be slightly aggressive towards the cherry shrimp though. Is this harmless, or will they eventually begin to damage the population of shrimp ? Thanks, Kris.
