Two things I'd check here: 1) On the Cristalprofi's, if you don't have the media baskets in perfectly level (with handles flat) then the clamps will still lock, but it won't be watertight. Try resetting all the baskets. 2) Seal as mentioned above.

Aye, pretty much. Dosing 20ml ferts in 190l every 3 in 4 weeks. T8 lighting, 4 hour photoperiod. 20-30% water changes every month or so. Heavily planted.

Pretty sure (but not certain) that is one of the ones that makes Purigen lethal. To be honest, if you buy powdered Prime, the value for money it represents beats everything on the market. Never had mine near discus buffer, and not had any issues.

The coarsest material should be at the inlet end of a filter, moving through to the finer stuff. This is so you don't clog up the fine stuff with any big bits of debris.

They keep things out, but they're then a pain to keep clean. The mesh is a nice compromise in my book :).

I've tried all manner of foam solutions (because they're cheap), and I've now got stainless mesh fitted to all my tanks. Nothing else comes close for keeping the shrimp out and being easy to clean, as well as looking ok. Hurts to buy them, but worth the investment.

It's a pressure effect that causes bubbles to form, and can occur as a result of poor inlet flow (but there are many more causes, it's a really complicated effect). In short, whenever you regulate a pump, you should always regulate the output, not the input, to avoid things like backpressure...

JBL's are the quietest filter I have ever used. Never had a need for spares, but impellers etc are easy to source online. I don't think any of the sponsors on here stock them, but Charterhouse Aquatics and Zooplus do.

You shouldn't really do anything to restrict inlet flow as you run the risk of cavitation in the filter. The general consensus on here is for JBL and Eheim filters usually - what price have you seen the Fluval for?

I've got an e700 and two e901's here, and also own 2 eheim 2217's. I can't praise the JBL's highly enough, they're absolutely brilliant, and would be top of my list for any future purchases without a second thought.

If you're certain it's not air or the impeller, the only other thing I can think of is if there's something trapped between the canister o-ring and casing that's transmitting the vibration.

I've got a JBL e700 on mine and it's great at half throttle.

Have you considered using braided sleeving? Available in a variety of colours, costs next to nothing, and takes seconds to fit. Just a thought...

I'm not familiar with the specific model,but looking at the specs, the rated flow is 500. Since most filters can be throttled back to 50% without any problems,you should be absolutely fine.

One is a socket and one is a plug, so you can't just join two taps, you'll need a matching pair.

If you put it before the floss then you're going to reduce the effectiveness because it will just get clogged with all the crud that the floss would have picked up - the purigen beads aren't smooth, and letting them clog will cause problems. What filter do you have?

I'd suggest this. 1) Get the uprated impeller for the Juwel filter. If it's a modern one, the same powerhead can accept the 1000lph impeller, which will set you back about a tenner. 2) With some acrylic pipe, make yourself a spraybar to go on the pump output rather than the naff little nozzle...

I've just got home and looked at the taps on my 2217 - I reckon by eye it should be ok, since they just screw up to crimp the tubing against the connector barb. Worst case, a small insert in the tap would crimp the tube up if it's a little bit loose, so I reckon you're right in saying it should...

Your heater question is a bit misleading. Without a time llimit, anything will be enough to help it hit ambient! The short answer is yes, 300w will be fine, depending on how cold it is it might take an hour or 3.
