Saw this tank last weekend, it's looking really good with a Staurogyne carpet. The blyxa has had a massive trim as well. I must admit I was a little distracted playing with the dogs though ;)

Saw the gobies in Maidenhead Aquatics @ titchfield last week.

I think one key aspect that will help is sense of scale. Small tanks require small leaved plants to help it look bigger. Your plants are quite big leaved. I haven't ever got the aquascaping thing down tbh. I expert in tanks I don't have to do much to lol. Currently only got one marine tank...

Cool :) Does the filter not have somewhere you can adjust the flow? If not you could fill the filter with the floss and then a little bit of foam to stop the impeller getting tangled up in floss.

Sound good :) Where does the flow come out of the filter? I can't quite figure it out! Maybe you could do a quick step-by-step guide on how you DIY'ed your filter? (If you have already done this then sorry I haven't seen it lol)

The layout of the rocks looks quite nice but I do agree with the others that perhaps you should try to line up some striata on the rocks. The tank is looking good so far and the journal is v. fun to read. Keep up the good work :)

Hi Tesco! Welcome to the forum, sad to hear they arent making the osaka anymore. I think its a good-looking tank, just the expense was too much. Like what you've done with it! Just had a skim and looks like tesco has 2 x 305, and a koralia which will definately help!

Oh and rather than using an RO machine, why don't you try one of those in-line filters with no wastage? It won't be as pure as RO but doesn't need to be for freshwater? Btw, can't you plumb it up so the RO wastage goes back into the supply?

WallichLi! Thats the one. I remember being in the shop trying to pronounce it. Watch out, mine has sent out lots of new growth but has shed lots of the emersed leaves. This could trigger ammonia release and therefore algae. Not that you have to worry about these things your tanks look perfect!

You know how to get rid of surface scum? Hoover it off... DONT DO IT WITH A NORMAL HOOVER THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The guys at TGM used an industrial hoover and just hoovered the top of the water to get off all the little trimmings of plants and scum!

The wood is all one piece. Called "swamp wood" according to my LFS. Yeah it will be interesting especially as the king himself uses a rio 125. I'm sure yours is and will be better than mine 8) If I can get to growing plants and scaping one quarter as good as George I will be a very happy girly!

Oh phew thanks! I was starting to think everyone thought it was really bad as no-one had replied. The substrate is Aquaground clay or aquaclay ground. Personally I wouldn't choose it again. The grain size is too big really. Trying to plant hairgrass is a b-i-t-c-h. Thanks for the replies!!!

I didn't think it would matter about the phosphate/nitrate in the tap water I mean adding say 10 mls is not going to make a difference to the 125 litres of the stuff in the tank. I just wasn't sure if there was a reason I couldn't use it for the stock solution like say the high levels of salts...

I saw Apistogramma panda for the first time ever in the MA @ Fareham. I think they look absolutely stunning, and after a little research seem to be pretty peaceful. Their colours would look lovely against a green background.

Wow, I'm sure once it's grown in it will look amazing! I can kind of imagine, I think once the pebbles get a bit of green algae on them they will look a bit more natural. I'm sure when the wood gets colonised by the moss it will look awesome. What fish will you keep in there?
