Ah sorry. I'm not sure tbh! If it doesn't come with one I would assume it doesn't need it. Some people use a layer of PTFE tape to make sure connections don't leak, you could use some as (if I remember correctly) the D & D kit comes with a roll of PTFE.
You could look into buying an autodosing machine? This way your CO2 and fertilisation will remain constant? It would also take less hassle for you when you are home, leaving more time for water changes
The problem is you are using a pH controller to control your CO2 flow quite probably. Most people on here that use CO2 will pump a constant amount - as measured using a drop checker (search for the sticky on it for more info).
If you haven't used your D&D reg then you might be able to take it back - rather than buying the freshwater one, buy the saltwater one. For some reason the saltwater one has both gauges!? TBH I asked at my LFS that I worked at and they let me take one
So they do make them, if you can't...
Wow I'm really sorry this has happened to you, when making such a positive step for your tank :(
I can only imagine that there was too much CO2 - do you have a drop checker? Although you will probably realise this by now, when you are setting up the CO2 it's best to do it on a Saturday or...
I agree your best option is to keep the reg on the bottle and have a long piece of hose. On the bright side a larger bottle means you won't have to worry about checking it so often! The temperature would affect the cyclinder, I don't know the limits but I'm pretty sure that too high a...
Sorry Andy I couldn't figure out what the red thing was - I haven't seen a bottle like that before. Where did you buy the bottle from? I would take it back.
I know some people have recently been saying that CO2 is not dangerous. But I still think it could be dangerous in one of two situations:-...
I was thinking LFSs. Google won't tell me what LFSs stock them without probably spending ages searching every site. Not every LFS has a website with all their stock. Thought it might be easier to ask here, as people might know what LFSs sometimes have them in stock or perhaps always have them in...
I don't know if you are up for a drive but Aquajardin in Eastleigh do some of the Dennerle range. I have seen CO2 there before but you'd have to check what would be in stock before you went.
This could be a rather expensive option, just think if you were going to use carbonated drinks value fizzy water might be better. Even cheaper in the long run maybe you could pick up a cheap soda stream machine at a car booty :)
That looks really nice, and just think, no scrubbing to make the pipe look clear!
All stainless steel could look good... I don't like the idea of water + electricity + metal for a filter/heater though. Sounds like a death trap!
Where would I buy new ones from?
I managed to get a replacement from the shop. D&D have changed the solenoid that goes with the kit now. Seems to be a different make. I also blagged a 2-pin to 3-pin converter
Oh and tank still looking good so have avoided setting up the CO2 kit by myself!
I have tried around the bottle to the reg. When I set it up I tried around the gauge and stuff but I don't want to put too much liquids around the electric solenoid!
Soooo, after fighting loads just to get CO2 working ok coming on and off at the correct time and pressure I then had to turn it off for 6 days. It is now v. broken.
I haven't been able to get the second gauge on because I have no spanner.
When I leave the set not plugged in the pressure slowly...
As I've heard of it happening to several people I don't want to run the risk as I have £££ worth of fish in the tank including 22 cpds which I hope to breed.
Cheers for all your help! Excellent advice about the seal.
I am going to set up my two sets from Supercoley1 (cheers btw mate), and I want to use just one ladder. Can I use a standard T piece for now?
Most major question, if I am putting this on top of my aquarium can I use a standard non-return valve for now? Or do I have to make one?
