What are the tanks stats...size, substrate etc. Substrate choice can drastically change the amount we need to dose.

Try aquaessentials. TPN+ is a great product. I came from the EI background, but more recently, i'm finding an all in one product such as TPN+ is doing my tanks the world of good....from the perspective of 'lower dosing' That said, match your fert dosing to your CO2 and light input.

you could easily double your dosing mate, to see what happens.

Here's my update with these ferts. I do add KNO3 and PO4 but in small amounts. Boy, i cant wait for my next stem scape. :D

I cut back on the mikro a week ago or so. It just didn't feel right to put that much in. I've also been adding Kno3 and po4 in small amounts. My plants in the 60 have never looked better. C heferi looks wonderful.

I personally cant do before and after, and i'm not as competent as George at growing, but here's my nano, running on these ferts... Acicularis just loves them. Excuse the dirty drop checker :oops:

I thought i'd share my 2 week experience with these ferts. I've done a fair few tanks over the last 4 years or so, and most have been pretty healthy. I can be the first to poo poo new ideas especially when it comes to things like ferts. I'm an EI snob, but i must say there's a marked...

I've been dosing this for about 2 or 3 days now, and i can say, without bias, that i've noticed a change in plant health in my nano. Somehow, my greens are much better. The acicularis seems to like it a lot. so far i'm impressed. lets see what it's like 6 weeks down the road.

I usually get bored of reading stuff like this, but I've got to say, i'm really intrigued by whats being said here. 8)

I must admit it's interesting to read about. This comment is interesting... and one i agree with. I've seen the odd picture from NAG, with HC not looking very well at all. wouldn't that be down to user error though?... So many people bang on about ADA this and that, but I've seen full ADA...

no mate. I dont even know what it does :D

no probe mate. KNO3... 2 teaspoons PO4... 1 teaspoon both on same day. alternate days, 0.5 teaspoon trace. i do at least 2 x 50% W/C on this tank, so try and do it on the KNO3 days. with a lower plant ,mass, and no stems, this is lean dosing for me.

i'm sure many do this, adding dry powders to a tank, but I've been asked many times how i do it. Even then, people are still fearful of doing this way. personally, i just dont see the point in making solutions...too much hassle. Anyway, for people unsure, just do this...

I wouldn't say that. I think many people think and know there are cheaper alternatives. that's all. I can do anything you do for a fraction of the cost. :wink:

:lol: This is true Clive. I've come fresh out of the 'Clive School Of CO2 Injection' or 'CSOCI' as it's better known. I always fear a shortfall in co2, not so much the amount, but how that amount entering the tank, is used, through flow and distribution. The latest 120cm has it everywhere...

yeah, sorry. :D I didn't realise this was a non co2 tank from Tom. if this is the case, 20w over 10L even with liquid co2, seems an awful lot right?

true! Many fish, especially carp are greedy. I used to do a lot of match fishing, did well to. I was once in a match and lost the top 3 kit off my £2000 pole...not impressed. The carp (which I landed) took off like a bolt of lighting, at one point in the motion I straightened the whole pole...

correct. Simply put, EI works :thumbup: I've never had issues after heavy pruning, whilst adding full EI dosing. The only issues I have, is when I don't dose....'Savannah dreaming'

Re: 10 day old tank, stem plants sick - advice please. EI t rotala is much more robust than HM. This will survive in any conditions and will take some major cutting to see it off. HM is much more delicate and needs time to settle in.

yes, my thoughts too. i've bought more plants as an experienced grower than I did when I was inexperienced. we must not forget that we, the UK planted tank scene, are a minority and probably don't buy as many pots as the majority put together. The 95% of people who are inexperienced that buy...

dont forget though....it's half price! it's better than full price eh? especially when ADA ferts are lean in there contents.

very true. i run 3 tanks via EI on the equivalent (money wise, probably less in fact ) to one bottle of off the shelf fertiliser. :D

my mums not what you would call Einstein, and she finds it easy to dose her/my tank with dry powders. it's not really that hard. half of this, a quarter of that......job done.

you did allow it to reach the surface?...ime sp green recovers slowr than rotundifolia. you gota go easy on sp green

an inch between each node?...was it planted from cuttings or emerged groth(straight fromthe pot) bang another 24w light on ,but i dont reckon its that., but IME its not the light. i grow it in the same setup with 1 x 24

like Andy hints at, just don't worry about it. all i did ~(and getting amazing results) is pick your size tank and use the corresponding amount of dosing. good god, i even dose heavier than stated just to see how far i can push things. do have co2 and lighting in place though :wink: i don't...

i think easy carbo is cheaper than the other one

yes, clives right. its ok dosing excel to rid you of your algae, but you need to get to the root of the problem correct dosing should eliminate the need for heavy excel dosing.

ive never had a problem with the vallis/ excel/easycarbo thing. even when overdosing. it did see off my riccia though.

very true. im actualy thinking about swaping to dry powders because of this very reason. it appearss my tanks require high dosage of tpn+ and its becoming expensive

clive i opted for an off the shelf fert.its worked wonders. sadly i dont have a before pic. but i can judge by looking at my neighbours lawn, and there is a masive difference. my rose bush has gone mental too with added K there must at least 70 flowers waiting to open. thanks mark
