No probs

MA stores don't fill 'on site' ...they take the bottles away to be filled. Ring and check to see if that particular store does co 2 re-fills. They might not.

You can buy cheap FE's online. Plenty of maidenhead aquatic stores also do re-fills. I personally, use BOC. I now have two large, vapour co2 bottles. 1 for each tank...90cm and 120cm. 1 bottle on 360L has run for well over a year.

The denser your plant mass becomes, the more you'll have to slowly increase co2 to suit. After a heavy trim, you'd have to cut back on your co2 and dosing.

With a finer mist plants do much better. Since switching to an 'up' atomizer which gives off much finer bubbles, my plants have gone into over drive, and pearling is quite intense. Learn to live with the mist :thumbup: from afar, you cant even tell to be honest.

I think aqua essentials sell them. dont buy the whole kit...the expensive one, as there's a load of items you just dont need. You need the JBL reg and solenoid. Reliable and accurate.

JBL all the way for me. Quality stuff when it come to regs and solenoids. An in line diffuser would also be a great addition to any CO2 rig. :thumbup:

yep. The problem is, this little area is privately owned by some scum bag. It's a fishing area which runs along side the river (Severn Trent owned) The river is Beautiful, but when you cross onto the island, your greeted by this monstrosity!...Burning piles of rubbis, rats etc. etc.

mmm...do you have a drop checker? maybe not. My guess is, your not injecting enough co2. do your ferts NPK? this is a vital part of a co2/light diet.

mmmm....that's pricey mate. I can get through my BOC account a 36KG bottle to rent for about £67.00 full. then to refill £22.00 inc handling fee. thats £89.00 for a full 36KG

anyhow it wouldn't work propane connector is way different to co2....male to female, instead of female to male connections oxygen and acetylene are similar to propane, only different diameter. the whole thing is dangerous and know one would even touch the idea. just get a BOC account and...

propane is liquid form too. there's 2 forms of co2...liquid and gas :D

I believe butane is liquid form in bottles so the 'output' part of the bottle maybe completely different. we use gas co2 instead of the liquid version of co2

not sure mate. I do remember the other thread re. this subject and thought...i've bought the wrong one! but this copy i have is real micro. any smaller, you wouldn't see them :D consider me, truly blown away!

I've got the boyou diffuser, some don't like it, but mine gives off micro bubbles which are reaching every part of the tank. I'm quite stunned actually at how effective they are. check out fleabay.

i use the JBL cleaning fluid. diffusers are spotless in 5 minutes. it's really that good.

i dont think that will happen. That's what regs are for. ever tried putting an empty co2 hose into tank water without a diffuser?....you'll see that the reg has done it's bit buy reducing pressure to a manageable rate. even on full whack you'll never break the glass....unless every single...

i'm not really sure. the cylinder open/close allows the gas to travel to the reduction stage, which diminishes the pressure to working values, the open/close pressure on the reg allows the gas to then travel to needle valve, this does not reduce the pressure anymore though. multi stage, would...

i've taken a quick snap of 3 regs, co2, acetylene both single stage but dual gauge. and to the right a multi stage reg, but still dual gauged. notice the size difference. i'm guessing it isn't dual stage, but dual gauged. someone shoot me for no jubilee clips too. :lol:

each time a bottle empties, you must always wind it out then re set everything, other wise it can stick. i've gone through 2 regs for work by not doing this.

there not the same matey, stage and gauge are 2 different things. hence why i re-read what i'd wrote. :D i miss read. dual gauge, is 2 gauges. can still be single stage. dual stage, is where the pressure is reduced twice. like i mentioned earlier, dual gauge regs are big for what ever app...

dual gauge regulators? or multi stage as there also known. why do you need multi stage? i use multi stage at work (oxy/ acetylene not like industrial welding/cutting,more like detailed lead welding) all the second stage is give more accuracy over the already reduced pressure, nothing else so it...

you need to check it properly. rub slightly soapy water around all the connections or anywhere where gas could possibly escape. see if they produce a leak. often the O ring perishes (where the reg connects to the bottle) sometimes you wouldn't even realise it....it's that slow a leak. 500g is...

I'd recommend the JBL regs, but rather the new version. the old shown in the link is a pig to attach to bottles due to old style grip. The newer ones have, IMO, much better control over output. I have used both, and the new is a huge improvement. also, if the solenoid goes down on the old...

you should be fine. just push it a tad more from the fine tuning valve. or what ever config your reg has. in stead of 1 bar go to 1.5

regulator, hose, non return valve and a diffuser.....oooo and a 500g bottle/ FE. The JBL regs are brilliant and come with a solenoid which i use. VERY precise control. i've used 3 types and these are the best IMO :D

i've used co2 on a 35L...actually i would never been seen without co2 in any tank i undertake. for me, it gives me stability.

i've got a BOC account for my work, but not all dealers deal with CO2...i asked. i couldnt get it through mine :D best check before starting an account.

i wouldn't worry. i use undersized diffusers on my 120cm (240l) with no probs. just up the rate, and point the outflow and korolia at it to transport it around the tank.

good thinking, i don't want to put the dampeners on things, but sometimes that don't always work. I've done it in the past and if your unlucky enough to get a pocket of co2 gas inside the filter which can happen. it don't diffuse.i had a high rate of co2 from the diffuser on one occasion and had...

and the rest... a 500gm cost 70. just buy a FE of ebay. £18 then just get it refilled. i got 2 FE's and 2 jbl 500g running 2 at a time and 2 for when 1 runs out...so i NEVER get caught out :wink:

that's no good neither. you need 4dkh water for a correct reading. i cant explain the science bit. (clive's your man) you can get that from aqua essentials. but as im finding out even if you have 30ppm of co2 you still have room for much more. all tanks are different so it wont work for everyone.

re fillable bottles and disposable bottles are different threads i think. users must check before purchasing. i bought disposable when i first started using co2 and they were the wrong ones mark

i use MA @ eastbridgford. its allaways been there policy, not sure about other branches though. it's saved me a fortune :wink:

upgrade to a 2kg, when gas suppliers fill the bottles your not paying for the gas as such, more for the time of the guy filling it. MA have a policy of regardless of the size bottle its allaways £14 to fill it whether its 500g or 2/5kg. its way cheaper in the long run. for the price of one 2 kg...

why do they produce co2 tubing then? i think there such a thing as co2 corrosion where certain psi pressure can cause this. thats why tubing is labelled specificly for co2 use. :roll: i might be... mark

sounds like the right thing, you need to check if its for the FE connection. i think jbl regs are for the smaller disposable bottles.

anything pressurised you need proper kit! what ever it requires you must get the correct replacements IMO. an open FE which isn't correctly sealed is dangerous. youve already damaged your wall, you dont want to blow it out do you? just my thoughts on the subject :wink: mark

well, i was thinking of the aqua soil, but never had one glitch with the bigger tank. its stayed clear throughout. but used malaya on that setup. i wasnt sure if amazonia was different in anyway. ive done a 50% waterchange and its crystal again. + plus a new co2 cylinder.

in anyones experience, is it posable to get some kind of co2 dump/rubish from the end of a cylinder. and if so can it haze the water slightly? ive checked on my new setup and the wayer has a SLIGHT haze.checked my co2 and the bottle was nearly empty.
