    Black neon tetras

I know George has used these in the past, so I thought I'd give them a whirl. :D Feel free to discuss the good and bad, personal experiences with this choice. That is all  black-neons by saintly's pics, on Flickr

    pets at home "quiz"

You think the above is crazy?...listen to this! And it's true. My wifes friend went to P@H to buy a fish tank, and because they didn't have water ready prepared (@ home, de chlored, temp etc), they wouldn't sell the tank to them. :jawdrop That's gospel too

    oto fry

    Fish choice for an iwagumi

Actually, the more I look at my set up with a black background, uber clear water, brilliant greens, the more I reckon penguin tetras would look stunning against the black, upper space of the tank.
  9. Mark Evans

    Fish choice for an iwagumi

Hard to tell from the photo George, but they look similar to penguin tetras. Are they?
  10. Mark Evans

    Fish choice for an iwagumi

I'd be right in saying, you had these in your last huge cube? nice fish also! but would they suit a scape with pretty big stones. Maybe the fish ought to be relative to the size of the stones? lemon tetra size or a bit bigger? I'm green when it comes to fish
  11. Mark Evans

    Fish choice for an iwagumi

now a shoal of those would be amazing. I love them, but I do feel that maybe a tighter shoaling fish would be needed. another great fish, and under used. Amano uses them frequently

    Fish choice for an iwagumi

I must admit, I'm going down the road of ...tetras also. :D After owning platinum tetras, I was thinking those.
  13. Mark Evans

    Fish choice for an iwagumi

    Platinum Tetra - Hemigrammus vorderwinkleri

40 in a 260 would look the dogs nuts! i'd like a 60 strong shoal.
  16. Mark Evans

    Platinum Tetra - Hemigrammus vorderwinkleri

gauging by the ones in my nano, roughly the same size as fully grown cardinal. maybe a bit 'dumpy'
  17. Mark Evans

    Platinum Tetra - Hemigrammus vorderwinkleri

their quit placid mate. I never noticed any aggression in them what so ever. I'm considering putting them in my latest tank in stead of the scatty neons I have. :D
  18. Mark Evans

    Platinum Tetra - Hemigrammus vorderwinkleri

here's a couple of images of platinum tetras. brilliant shoalers A tank that was soon put to bed
  19. Mark Evans

    Nannostomus mortenthaleri

no mate, but i may. i think pencil fish can bring a lovely touch of red, without being over the top.
  20. Mark Evans

    Nannostomus mortenthaleri

my fave fish! the fish in the middle cost me £10...and he jumped  i plan on having some of these in the next tank. great character

    saintlys tiger endlers

2 weeks mate, a bit more maybe. your looking at the pics. The vids are from the nano too. i want to let it grow in a bit before i do a 'full tank shot' it's really for my shrimp, but it's scape just a little, using manzi wood
  22. Mark Evans

    saintlys tiger endlers

Clean up crew for a 60l

i'd put in about 20 or so amano shrimp and half a dozen ottos.
  26. Mark Evans

red eye tetra. do they jump alot?

i've never lost them to jumping. they tend to stay low to mid tank IME
  27. Mark Evans

    Lamp eyes

A great fish indeed. large numbers are required for a visual impact IMO.
  28. Mark Evans

    50 of what tetra?

platinum tetras. I'm redoing my 120cm and I plan to incorporate these into the scape. i've got this thing for whit fish....platinum angels too
  29. Mark Evans

saintly's "Autumn Blush" gets a cat fish

yep, i've gone against all the rules of a planted tank and i've added a rather large pleco!.... scroll down
  30. Mark Evans

    ottos

this may sound cruel, but every tank that i've had ottos in, i've never attempted to feed them. i just let em' graze on the plants. they still get fat so they must be ok

Red Eye Tetras - anyone keep them

they've been fine with everything. i've had them a along side embers, cardinals silver tip, rams there was no issue what so ever. i may be lucky though, but i cant see a problem :D
  34. Mark Evans

Red Eye Tetras - anyone keep them

there a nice fish.i'd say put them in nothing smaller than a 3 footer visually speaking. the aggression I've never had a problem with. there is obviously a ranking or pecking order if you want to call it that. and they pick areas to "sit" in. the odd nudge from a bigger fish but that's about it IME

    Angels Hunting

when had my platinums, embers started going missing :( i think when size starts to play a bigger part in the equation you may find 1 or 2 may go missing, but then i'm no guru on angels ray.
  36. Mark Evans

    Plant friendly plecs.

its a 3 footer. just right i reckon.it's not the style of tank you or i would go for, but it's what he's selling. it'll be the henge take 2 but in store. i'll have my 60 optiwhite up and running soon. and a small optiwhite nano. it'll be madness soon.
  37. Mark Evans

the most resilient fish in the world

just what i was thinking. ive looked at the route it would take and it dont pass them. it goes through the pipping and they must get stuck at the bottom and around the sides. a gap of about an inch. what's amazing is there in darkness for 2 months in my case. the sae look better than they ever...
  43. Mark Evans

the most resilient fish in the world

resilient isn't the word! here's the story, i will embarrass myself here too. about 2 months ago in my 60cm optiwhite, you'll all remember the red eye tetras?....well you see they kinda disappeared one by one, i thought they were jumping out the tank and lost forever. in fact i lost...

im worried about the angels behaviour

its not something i experienced when i put my platinums angels in. as long as there not gasping or anything they might end up being ok.

    wcmm nooky show

ive been watching my white cloud mountain minnows tonight and what a joy they are. it appears there's 1 female which is carrying eggs.... and there's 1 male which is more dominant over the rest and when others try to get near he shoos them away. this is him normal.... and this is him when...
