    JBL proflora reg problems

Regulator is not capable of running without leaks above 2-2.5bar. Making it slightly less useful than the common paperweight if used in conjunction with a bazooka type atomiser. Rather than contact JBL and them tell me what their regulator couldn't do, i messaged Karol at co2art and he told me...

    JBL proflora reg problems

I've tested both mate, (couldn't get the one you linked to on my rental bottle because of plastic handle) but I much prefer the intense. Very easy on. Good quality reg good upto about 6 bar. Karol has probably the best customer service you'll find on the planet. I'm confident you'll be able to...

    JBL proflora reg problems

Yeah, I basically gave up trying to run it on an in tank atomiser I had. I've subsequently purchased this from co2 art : http://www.co2art.co.uk/products/superior-quality-intense-co2-regulator-v3-with-solenoid It's an excellent, simple to use reg. I was expecting the quality to be sub-Jbl...

    JBL proflora reg problems

Hey, I've had a similar problem. I just unscrewed black plastic and slightly stretched the spring inside. Not ideal but made it work. If its leaking there, then it's struggling with the pressure, what are you running it at? I'd reccomend another regulator to be honest.
  6. Nathaniel Whiteside

    CO2 system working pressure

Yeah, ditch the Jbl. I've got one of these to replace. At 2.5bar jbl seems to back up and leak from the needle valve. Just not intended for the pressures. This one was £90 from co2art with solenoid, is far superior to jbl build quality, has HAND TIGHTENING (so easy!) and will run upto 6bar.
  7. Nathaniel Whiteside

    CO2 system working pressure

Is it a bazooka type? If so mines running on 3-3.5 bar on an intense Reg. Excellent bits of kit.

    Best Diffuser?

They are exceptional at diffusing co2. Mine mists like smoke too. Better than peoples hi tech 'twinstar' gadgets.

Does anyone own a JBL m001 regulator?

Yeah good, but not good enough. Contact Karol from Co2 art. His regulators are capable of dealing with our kind of requirements. Extremely helpful if you need a hand too.
  10. Nathaniel Whiteside

Does anyone own a JBL m001 regulator?

Hey John, mine starts to struggle around 3 bar. The needle valve you use to adjust flow rate starts backing up and leaking after this sort of pressure. Edit: I got over pressure release valve leaking at 2.5-3 bar by stretching spring slightly inside the PRV itself. Not ideal.

Hello Bertie, My reg was bought second Hand on everybody's favourite auction site, but it's new as the thread for the solenoid on the reg is updated. The solenoid valve is from Homeleigh online. Very easy to put together, there's some instructions in the box aswell if you get stuck! All you...

Mine have always been great. I've owned 3 in total. Good solid build with fine adjustment. I wouldn't use anything else. In fact, I've just stripped mine down and added a Jbl solenoid direct to the reg.
  25. Nathaniel Whiteside

    CO2 system working pressure

Looks like an old lunapet model, although I've never owned one, can somebody verify? It should be absolutely capable of 3 bar and very safe, if it is adjustable of course!

  27. Nathaniel Whiteside

    CO2 system working pressure

I'd advise running at 3 bar where possible. Nice and misty! Smaller bubbles = better dilution rate of co2 in water ( preventing bubbles wasted by popping on surface) so therefore should allow you to maintain 30ppm with a lower 'bubble rate', so to speak. You'll need a nice diffuser / atomiser...

    How long will 2kg last?

Well Tom Barr runs a sump, so naturally that will be like having a lot of surface agitation alone. Surface agitation obviously means more refills, but I think it's a good trade off. People do different things for different reasons, some focus on livestock, which is normally why the surface...
  34. Nathaniel Whiteside

    How long will 2kg last?

Many believe that a decent amount of surface agitation allows them to inject higher levels of co2, which makes for more healthy and faster growing plants. Many also see a notable difference in livestock when surface is well agitated, as oppose to not.

Are you currently dosing fertilisers? This will improve growth somewhat. From what I've heard, DIY co2 is more hassle than it's worth, but by all means give it a go and see how you fare. If you do go down the co2 route, then make sure your adding your N+P as well as the other ferts for quick...

    CO2 24 hours...was it worth it?

The whole point of doing 24h co2 is due to not having a solenoid handy. Seens as you do have a solenoid, I can't see any benefit whatsoever by injecting 24/7.

Smaller size i believe will be (co2 hose size) is 4/6mm which means the connection may be 5 or 6mm. Nice idea mike. Just make sure you have a couple of no-return valves on the co2 hose
  57. Nathaniel Whiteside

    Which Diffuser?

Yes, thats an option, but If your wanting to go down that route, I'm sure an 'UP inline atomiser' would have less negative effect on the flow rate. I just think that corkscrew is going to eat up a lot of your flow. Wheras the UPs version is like a continuation of the pipe, and fizzes in from...

    UP Atomizer leak???

Hissing is fairly loud, I'd say I'd be able to hear mine as you do. If you want to try it in a bucket add a short piece of hose to each side of the diffuser, so it diverts the 'normal' fizz away, while you look for leaks. Also, Ive swapped my HORRENDOUS! 73. Nathaniel Whiteside

    Liquid carbon optimized time?

Liquid for is readily available for plant uptake. They say dose it before and as close to lights on as possible, to maximise life in the aquarium. Or if you think about it, as it has a life of up to 24 hours, and your photoperiod is 10 max, its not really worth worrying about, just dose whens...

Little bubbles and fully enriched water

If you get the co2 & ferts right, the oxygen content of the water will be maxed out, ensuring plenty for fauna to breathe & thus feeling more comfortable. I have noticed this with my Danios this week too.
  80. Nathaniel Whiteside

    Does this sound about right?

Hey martin, I have co2 come on 3 hours before lights go on & go off 2 hours before lights. Increased surface movement means gas takes a little while to build up.
  81. Nathaniel Whiteside

Is my new UP CO2 Inline Diffuser causing this problem???

no, The regulator you showed is a fixed pressure I think, It reduces the pressure from the bottle (maybe 50-60 bar to 1.5 bar). To run an atomiser, you'll need a new Reg w/ pressure adjustment. Such as the JBL m001 - which I use. sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
  82. Nathaniel Whiteside

Is my new UP CO2 Inline Diffuser causing this problem???

If your running at only 1.5 bar. It will struggle massively as soon as algae builds up. It will then stop working. You need to be running at least 2 bar. I run at 2.5. Wht reg you guys using? Can you increase working pressure?
  83. Nathaniel Whiteside

    CO2 cylinders

If you get a micrometer. Measure the Thread, I think standard fit is 21.something Mm. Or just try fit your reg on it sneakily :) It shouldn't contain other gases though.
  84. Nathaniel Whiteside

New type of atomizer? Has anyone tried these?

These have been mentioned before, possibly by Garuf, but don't quote me on that one. If he purchased one, then maybe he could give you an insight? The Up ones are great if you can clean them every couple of weeks. Cheers,

    Quick question as I'm worried!!

Short term CO2 to accelerate carpet?

It takes ages for it to grow in my opinion mate, and thats WITH co2! Mines still got a long way to go before I'd class it as a carpet.
  94. Nathaniel Whiteside

    which diffuser?

I just cleaned my inline for the first time in a couple of months and wow. What a difference. Bubbles must be 10x smaller than just before clean and pressure required was much lower. I was up to nearly 3 bar, now back to 2 1/4 :D
  95. Nathaniel Whiteside

    Using Carbonated water

Jack? Ever thought about buying a 'fizz-keeper'. I know the bottles are cheap, but if you can make the whole bottle last, you'll be saving 30p a time. Plus maybe maintaining a good level of co2 within the water throughout.
  96. Nathaniel Whiteside

    Liquid Co2 tanks...

Whats your plant mass like? You wont need to double dose with low loads initially. If you do, expect fauna problems.
