I do think it was partly down to being stored so long after an initial use, that mine failed. One of the arms that go in and out on magnets to produce the air kept coming into contact with the magnetic block, causing a very loud rattling noise. Nothing I did to the arm worked to rectify this...

I bought one of them air pumps just over 3 years ago Lindy and only used it for maybe a week. Turned it on recently and it went within about 15 minutes. They are the worst thing eheim have ever put their name to. I'd honestly return it and get another from a different brand.

If you intend to reduce the glassware dean, your gonna knock hell out of the flow of the filter. Maybe by upto half! Get 17mm ones.

I think the Bacter balls are a media unless I'm. Much mistaken. Similar to Benibachi bee balls or whatever they call them. They harbour nitrifying bacteria on a very porous surface, which neutralises the ammonia. You could have similar effects with active carbon and eheim substrat Pro.

I've seen them units and doubt a 800mm head is achievable.

I wouldn't have anything other than an Eheim now, they just feel nice, reliable and as Darrel states, spares readily available. The only thing that Im not happy with, is I always seem to worry myself when I go to release the taps, turning them off with the leaver, and pressing release sometimes...

I use pure RO for my CRS tank, remineralised with Mosura plus . In my main tank I use 50/50 mix to get the TDS at around 120. Why have a debate about it? If you want the ability to cater for fish outside your 'tap water parameters' then INVEST. If you don't then don't. Shrimples.

Search Ro-Man on eBay, they're decent bits of kit, and easily replaceable filters too. I've got a 3 stage with a DI Resin unit. :)

JBL cleany ones are meant to be good Ady, and they have Them at paddock farm for sure. Not sure on exact length but apparently long!

Apparently, completely useless. Because the filter flow you require to be fast, and the UV requires a slow flow rate to be of any use. If you do want a UV, which you shouldn't, then run it on a separate run with a pump. Better spending your money on a filter with a higher flow rate and some...

Ahh fair point ;) yeah floss isnt great in planted tanks. You want as much flow as you can get. My filter is a 2078 pro 3e on a 96L tank. its capable of running 700L tanks :lol:
