I don't think the demand would be here in the UK tbh, shrimp barely have a small following here as it is and most people complain at spending £20 per shrimp let alone £500!

The manufacturers say that you'll lose the 'lowering quality' of the soil quicker if you mess with the chemistry of the water using RO and GH boosters so it may be worth checking in a month or so if the soil is still lowering the GH so you don't have to have the hassle of adding the booster anymore.

Hey Chris. I'd recommend both Oliver Knott Nature Soil, or Columbo Flora Base (you can get both in black). Both claim to lower PH but I wouldn't rely on this as in the long term as the PH lowering properties will become exhausted. ADA Aquasoil Amazonia is another option, but can be more...

Cherries and Amano aren't too fussy over hardwater. In Winchester the water is PH 8/8.5 and GH 14 so I use a 50:50 mix with RO resulting in a perfect PH7 GH 7 for my Crystal Reds. Just an option you could try out. I also don't use water from the hot tap as it would have been sat around in the...

Good news! Turns out they were mating, looked in the tank this morning and the female I was on about is full of eggs. Awesome. Thought how its quite cool being able to live with animals that closely that you get to see things like that; it's like BBC's 'Life' in your house! :thumbup:

I had them breed once in my old tank. 3 out of my 7 shrimp are from that tank, one of those 3 is the sole surviving baby from that one off breeding!
