    ADA Amano Tanks...

Although ADA's approach is unconventional they still manage a 'balanced' system which is key as they have developed all of their products to work together. An example of this is the lower then suspected lighting. In respect to the slower flow rate I'm guessing theres two reasons why it works...

    Neil's DIY cabinet

Your cabinet was one of the ones I checked out when I was doing a bit of research. You did a cracking job. I agree it is a great feeling to be able to say 'I made that!'

    Neil's DIY cabinet

From the above post it looks like I jinxed myself  I made a big mistake and bought a tin of Dulux WOOD Primer. Over the last week I've tried applying two coats, both of which horribly peeled and teared when sanded and took 48 hours to 'dry' when the can said it would take 16 :eh...

    Installing a Temperature Controller

Nice idea LD, I'll bookmark that fan for the future. My tank at the mo is staying between 24-25 so is just about OK.

    Cabinet Hinges?

As James said the primer and paint should seal it and I'll be either using car paint or a top coat of varnish. Hopefully be alright. I'm not too clumsy with water either *touch wood*

    Neil's DIY cabinet

Thanks very much mate :D Just got hold of a tin of primer and a roller so I'll try and get on that tomorrow. It should all start getting together next week. Got your light still to come and the hinges for the doors, and I think I need to get hold of some more filter tubing just to make sure...

    Neil's DIY cabinet

Cheers Peter  I'll put the 3ft in the post, I forgot to say I made one at the same time  You should have a crack at it, just the same idea with thicker wood and a sub-frame. It's having the right tools and the time though which can be an issue.

    Neil's DIY cabinet

As promised here are some photos. Rather impressed with the result (even if I do say so myself  ) actually managed to be millimetre perfect for a change . I also found that an electric sander was invaluable. All filled and sanded and ready to be primed. My unusual tube port...

    Cabinet Hinges?

For my cabinet I've been using 12mm thick MDF but I'm struggling to find concealed hinges that don't need a hole boring out less then this depth. I just found these on Ebay...

    Neil's DIY cabinet

Thought I would expand my post into more of a 'how I did it' because I found it useful when I started to see how other people had gone about making one of these beasts. Finished all the cutting today and hopefully I'll glue up on Thursday, weather permitting, and get some photos. I mainly just...

    Neil's DIY cabinet

I've decided I'm going to make it hard for myself and make another cabinet, this time from scratch and using the lessons I learnt from my first attempt to get a better result. I've already marked up some 12mm MDF ready for cutting. Hopefully I'll get it glued and screwed either tomorrow or...

    Eheim Ecco pro 130 (2032)

I'm using this too on my nano and its good, has some problems priming at times though from the handle from trapped air. Other then that the build quality is really good and its silent unless I open my cabinet and then I can just about hear a humming.

    Product Review Nano Heater Review

Plus 1 on this T. I live in an icy student house that had an ambient temperature of 15 degrees in the worst of the winter, but where I went for the Hydor ETH 200 on my nano it kept it at a constant temperature . Although overpowered, another one to consider if these smaller ones...

ADA cabinet tubing hole semi-circle dimensions?

Too late, the deed has been done! Got hold of this one yesterday; http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70141860 I wanted one that was solid wood so I could hack it about, turned out to be good dimensions too. It'll have a lip all around the tank as the tops slightly bigger which is a...

ADA cabinet tubing hole semi-circle dimensions?

In the next week or so I'll be butchering an IKEA cabinet into something thats been influenced from an ADA cabinet. I really like the semi circle shape of the hole for the filter tubing on the side of them but cant find the width or height of the curve. Anyone got any ideas? My cabinet will...

    Nano Lily Pipe

so I can use the 12-9mm eheim reducer for the ADA '10mm' pipe? This sounds promising! I've used an ADA 13mm for the inflow like you say  but Aqua Essentials have got a 10mm ADA outflow for half price so if I can make that fit it would be ideal.

    Nano Lily Pipe

I was going to buy an Eheim 2232 which has tubing with an internal diameter of 12mm. I already have an ADA inflow for it but I'm still after an outflow. It confusing me as to why most lily pipe 'sets' have a smaller size for the outflow. :? Also ADA seem to use sizes different from every...

    ADA Thermometer

They didn't say but I think they're going for £15.99 or so rrp, no more than £20 which is pretty good seeing as other ADA glassware costs a fortune. By the looks of it they have the odd one in their store but they're not online.
