Re: How to clean the tubes for glassware? &take glasswareoff
Haha this is spot on Clive, my ADA Superge is pretty much bleach in a aftershave bottle :D
Thanks very much for the suggestions, much appreciated.
I thought I was onto a winner this time recently by just changing the outflow, but the last couple of days has unleashed the dreaded black beard algae so I think I'm doing something very wrong with the whole setup. I think this has given...
Possibly a moment of inspiration (or stupidity) but would it be possible to split the output from my filter to eliminate the dead spot in my tank? I would still be using the one inflow of course and the outlets would both be pointing in the same direction so wouldn't be fighting each other.
Any...
Cheers mate, Ill stay clear of them. Been looking into making my own from acrylic which would look great if I can get the bend right... Did we have any secret acrylic lily/spray bar makers out there who have had a clean result?
Cheers very much Clive, I'll take a look into them
I've had around 30x turnover from the filter but theres a big dead spot at the back corner so this should help resolve the problem.
Hello everyone
Long time not posting for me but sadly have been too busy with life in general :( . Now I want to use the christmas holidays to take a well needed look at my 17 litre nano setup 'Mono' and crack it before setting up my newer tank. The challenge I have faced for months...
The vendor just sent me an email saying that they will send out a replacement straight away and that they don't even want the dodgy one back! Sorted, hopefully!
Cheers for the fast reply guys
Cheers Ed, I will leave using vaseline alone for now then. I just dropped Eheim an email to see what they think
Thanks Dan. Sadly with the Liberty you can't remove the impeller shaft to see if its straight or not, but I reckon you could be right...
Hi Everyone
Disappointingly I've started to get a rattling impeller in my new Eheim Liberty HOB
I was thinking could vaseline work as a lubricant on the impeller shaft (oo er  ) Does anyone know if its fish safe - I know others use it for O rings?
Any other...
You can run carbon in a planted tank, it just means you may have to dose more ferts to make up for the amount that may be removed, easy as that! Just keep an eye out for deficiencies in your plants and they will tell you if you need to add more. One neat trick is to use carbon in the filter...
I can't even find the ADA inlet I have online, TGM only have the bigger sizes from what I can see. I think I could just about justify the cost of Do!Aqua but not ADA by the looks of it, I think I'll try and be very careful with what I've got
Check out the Cal Aqua stuff too as its meant...
My actual ADA one is good quality strong glass and has survived me trying to pull the filter tubing off it quite roughly. Same for the Do!Aqua except the actual design of it is more breakable due to the swans neck shape of it.
I agree that if you don't clean glassware it looks rubbish and...
I got a bizarre combo of an ADA mini inlet and a Do!Aqua Violet lily outflow because they were in AE's sale when they ditched all their ADA stuff. The Do!Aqua lily I think looks nice but the flow is very 'focussed' and is forced down. Not bad for £25 though, looks the part.
At the moment its been too hot to have the lid on, I measured the temp and it was up to 40 degrees C in there with it sealed! Pretty cool though, its like having some kind of medical specimen jar . I want to try more species. This was a combination of the novelty of seeing an aquatic...
I havn't got any stems in my nano, only crypts. They're not doing great as I had them growing submerged before so aren't taking too kindly to the transition. If they don't recover I'll buy some more and plant up when I fill it up.
However I do though have Bacopa caroliniana which is a stem...
 wish that was my local!
If your doing your dry start I reckon you should be OK for cycling as you'll have a massive amount of bacteria in the substrate already. I'd be tempted just to fill and hook up the filter when your done with your dry start and keep up the water changes and I think...
Thanks for the reply Paul. If I used it as a sub substrate I would worry about it mixing or seeing it in the cross-section when looked at from the side?
I was thinking that if I did use the gravel as media I would make up the remaining volume to whatever is needed with new/more usual stuff.
Thinking of upgrading my Dads small tank to something bigger (and planted!). Would there be any issue with using the 'lovely' orange gravel substrate of the current setup as filter media in a new tank? 8)
Thought this was a stroke of good thinking as
1. I can get rid of the nasty orange...
