Just looked at this thread and love the general cleanliness of the execution. Some questions for you; how do you go about picking your hardscape? Do you ever purchase online or always see in person? Do you have an idea in mind before your selection?
Keep up the excellent work.
I like the balance between rock, wood and moss - reminds me of a riverbank. I noticed you've been using the G3 over a few 'scapes, how's it working for you in the long run?
Re: 120 x 55 x 55 @ 5 weeks
Great tip and lovely tank still. I've been syphoning with my new tank and it makes a hell of a difference, especially in areas of lower flow.
Re: 120 x 55 x 55 @ 1 week old.
Lovely tank indeed, just to reinforce whats already been said!
I was wondering your thoughts as to the effectiveness of Purigen? Have you used it before? How does it rate against standard charcoal?
Thanks for sharing such lovely pictures
Re: 120 x 55 x 55 Spot the CRS
I agree with Viktor, S grade from my knowledge as the colours are solid. Unusual choice for you Mark but I think they look great in there. Can't go wrong with a complementary red and green combo. I've noticed in a few of the newer ADA tanks they use CRS. How many...
Re: Tom's Bucket O' Mud - Fish pics page 8
This tank looks amazing, I love the 'three-dimensional' quality of it that is lacking in most tanks. Such a nice addition to a living space.
Did you get any photos of the setup out of curiosity?
Re: [IWAGUMI] Project Scree
Interesting stuff, cheers George. I'd mistakenly got the impression that deep banks of sand was a bad thing but obviously your tank proves otherwise and certainly looks great! I think the larger grains are the key then, so it won't compact but are still small...
Re: [IWAGUMI] Project Scree
Tank still looking excellent!
You may be able to help my ignorance - by making the choice of sand instead of the usual soil as a substrate in an iwagumi do you have issues with pockets of gas/other nasties building up at the deepest part of the slope at the back...
Re: "Prairie Lands"... more crypts!!!
I don't know whether its the lighting, vibrant greens, blue sky or the 'weeds' you've added but its looking more 'english country garden' then sterile japanese modernism which is a nice touch. Great work as always
Re: "Prairie Lands"... Diatoms...over!
Bloody stunning. Those rocks must be massive, I hadn't realised until this photograph as it now gives a sense of scale. I may have missed it but what type of stone is that? Lots of lovely detail to it. Awesome.
Re: "Prairie Lands"... final tank shots...ideas
Liking that blue background a lot! Is it the gradient one you used on your nano? If not then give that a try too maybe?
The blue is complimentary to the orange of the fish so makes them stand out more.
Re: [IWAGUMI] Project Scree - New fish and photos
Incredible, IMO well up there with Amano with both the 'scaping and photography. Something definitely to aspire to for us mere mortals.
Re: [IWAGUMI] Project Scree
I've been tempted by UG but I would go for my traditional dry-start - I don't think your fishes would appreciate that though
The tank looks excellent too btw.
Cheers,
Neil
Re: [IWAGUMI] Project Scree
Stunning. The light colour of the sand in combination with the white background and white lines in the stone is sublime.
Bizzarre to see both you and Saintly taking a similar minimal direction in 'scaping at the same time, maybe you've both reached similar...
The scale and the detail of that is incredible, unlike most tanks its not a miniature copy but looks like something you'd actually see on a woodland walk. Most people use redmoor or similar to recreate a tree stump but you actually have tree stumps! On that scale thats not 'scaping, more like...
Lovely shrimp Paulo I'm jealous  . My plan of action is to sell off/give away my lower grade babies and get some higher grades off Shrimp King to improve the genepool. Don't know if you wanted to be my guinea pig and take some off my hands for free, I've never posted shrimp before...
Re: Saintly's 240L 'savannah dreaming' @ 10 weeks
Could be a puffball not mushroom?
[edit] in closer inspection it has a stem so I think thats my theory out the window
We need one of our resident plant ID people
By the way the tank is looking incredible, didn't mention it...
Re: Tonsers 200L Optiwhite 'Peacocks Crypt'
Thats some crazy monitor setup there, is that a laptop with a extra display and then another monitor for Photoshop palettes? Awesome!
This lot says theyre getting some 'coming soon';

worth dropping them an email?
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my CRS as I havn't had any issues with sensitivity since keeping them for a year, I only had a problem before I bought a...
Being the shrimp fan you are I'm sure you've seen it, but is that Red Bee Sand worth a go? Also meant to ask how you think Sulawesi Cardinals would do in a temp of 23 degrees with Crystal Reds - I saw you had some at the start of the journal and wondered wether you had any success?
I always wondered wether MTS would go mad and uproot plants or do they just stay in the sand part? Also don't they reproduce crazily? If not they sound a good plan for me!
Thanks,
Neil
Thats how I think; the best critique of your own tanks is yourself, as you are the one that has to live with it (or not as it were with this tank as its at your aunties  ). No one can judge someone elses taste. Despite this however I think your tank looks bloody awesome :D
