Do you want plants that will grow out of the water when planted in the substrate? H. Corymbosa did that for me.

If you can hang a pc fan in the tank for air movment alot of vivarium guys use this method and it seems to work quite well.

That corymbosa looks good. It will get to 60cm or so, mine is planted in the substrate and grows out of the water. Its a pity I cant keep my tank open and hang my lights, kids eh......

Hi All Im redoing my 4ft and want to do a dry start for moss, hydrocoytle and hairgrass. Was wondering how much light is too much. I have 3x 54w t5 available. Im only planning on using 1 bulb after I submerge the tank though.

Thanks BigTom my Lfs sells them in emersed form they are usually 6-8ins tall I was going to half fill the tank and raise the water level as it grew. Just making sure it would keep sprouting emersed leaves. Thanks Ollie
