    British River Biotope

My little experiment was an absolute failure from a plants standpoint. The whole lot melted and died off. Perhaps a quick temperature change issue having bought them indoors from the winter weather. But oh well, it was worth a try. I may try again in the summer with pond plants instead of wild...

I know the stones arnt great but I got them by actually wading through a stream and picking them up.They are stones from the natural habitat I've taken inspiration from. I was hoping to find polished round stones but oh well

Thanks I have mature filter media in the filter already and usually start off with daily large water changes to compensate for a filter not being fully bacteria'd up yet Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk

Ok Went out this morning to get some more plants and Sticklebacks, Fish Farm is closed! No idea when they open because their website doesn't say but presumably its only week days. Tried a garden centre for plants and they only had 2 Lilys - Great! Basically I've just got on with it with what i...

    British River Biotope

Yes I wasnt aware of that tbh. Although the tank is in my spare room which has the radiator turned off and does get very cold over the winter so its not like they'll be living at 20+ all the time Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk

    British River Biotope

Im not sure about Moss anymore, its become a little invasive in my TMC tank and started growing under and amongst my hairgrass and causing it to be patchy. Wish I had never put it in there in the first place! But hey if I find some and its native. Why not! Im thinking maybe some starwort...

    British River Biotope

Hi All, For years I've wanted to try creating a British River Biotope. I have now bought a cheap tank second hand (Pets at Home Love Fish Panorama 64) to do one in whilst leaving my TMC signature tank as is. Having got the tank I've found the filter is reviewed poorly so i have now replaced...

    Transparent HC Leaves

Hi All, What does it mean when HC leaves go a dark green / transparent type look? 98% of my HC is fine but a few sprigs have this transparent problem. Is it a deficiency of some kind? I worry that my daily / bi-daily water changes are effecting my EI dosing and CO2 consistency.

    1-2 Grow VS Regular Pots

Hi All, In terms of Plants per £££, are 1-2 Grow Pots worth getting instead of regular pet shop pots? Im looking to get HC and E Acicularis from either AquaEssentials or Aquajardin. There is about a £2 difference between 1-2 Grow and Normal Pots but I cannot see how much more or less you get...

    Eleocharis Parvula

Hi All, As Im going on holiday soon ive decided to hold off starting my TMC Signature and have a dry start practice on my Fluval Ebi. It is made up of Lava Rock, HC and Eleocharis Parvula. The dry start didnt go very well at all, the humidity was too low and all the plants above the reptile...

    Vallisneria no root

Do you mean individual leaves have been cut or does it still have the base but without roots? If you have been given a bunch of individual leaves Im pretty sure it won't survive, if you have plant that has its root stems missing then it should root.

    Plant Choices - Help!

This how im looking before my rescape to give a rough idea... Im probably going with Staurogyne Repens as a foreground but I need something to replace the huge amounts of vallis between mid and foreground. Also I need to get rid of the dam non aquatic Hemigrapis Colorata plants that my local...

    Plant Choices - Help!

Your kidding right!! Ive been convinced that the 2 18watts havnt been good enough for anything which is why I upgraded about a week ago. Seems ok so far but I'll have to monitor it, I cant give up on them straight after buying them unless Ive made a huge mistake lol Staurogyne Repens looks...

    Plant Choices - Help!

Hi All, Ive been thinking about tank layouts and plants for what seems like months, Im not really getting anywhere. At the moment the tank is pretty bland and in pretty poor condition after a 2 week holiday and huge algae bloom as a result. I only have Vallis as I havnt started buying new...
