    Very flexible tubing

Slowing down the flow hasn't been something that I have aimed to do but if I wanted to, I could add more media (my canister isn't completely filled) which would definitely give a reduction on flow.

    Very flexible tubing

I reckon if you fill the canister tightly with media, it would reduce the flow sufficiently. I use a 2211 on my 14l cube nano and it isn't overpowered at all. I also made my own inlet/outlet using clear acrylic pipe as I couldn't be bothered with the fragility and expense of glassware, here's...

Ah, nice one. I'll need to go take a look at the weekend, cheers!

@hijac Which shop did you get yours from? I was in the Corstorphine branch the other day looking for one and had no joy...

    External CO2 reactor

Good to know, as you say, it's a bit strange that no retailers mention this seeing as it's possibly the biggest stumbling block to anyone using filters with 16/22mm piping.

    External CO2 reactor

Also, isn't the AM1000 12/16mm hosetails? You'd have to buy extra parts to step down from 16/22mm hoses and I'm assuming there would be a slight impact on flow as well. Then again, you could probably just build the hosetails up with PTFE tape or something I suppose, but either way I still...

    External CO2 reactor

Awesome, cheers for the comprehensive breakdown of what's needed, think I'll start gathering bits to make one soon. Expect some posts regarding assembly when I do!

    External CO2 reactor

It's definitely of interest to me, I was keeping an eye on Ed's reactor a while back. How much do you reckon it hast cost to build in total?

Spare suckers for a jbl drop checker needed.

The standard jbl ones are 12mm in diameter, the gecko that Flyfisherman suggested looks like it could do the job, the suckers on it appear slightly larger than the standard JBL ones but there's a chance they may fit. A bit of trimming with a stanley knife may be needed to make them fit the...

Oh joy. That's my second hand eth300 just bit the dust... Bang goes the cash I had saved for rescaping materials.

    Peristaltic Pump

Just a quick update, got the pump all connected up, even managed to get the speed controller into the circuit too, not bad for a total of £30.

DIY Project DIY Reactor - pictures, assembly and testing

Sorry to drag this thread up again, but what is the best way to actually inject the CO2, i.e. what kind of part? Gonna have a stab at building one myself once college finishes up next week and this is the only part I'm unsure of. If anyone else has built their own, what did you use?

Where can i get hydor external heater 200w 16mm connections?

Having seen your other posts, am I right in assuming it's for a 125l tank? If so, that's the same size my 300w version is on and you've got nothing to worry about, it works a treat.

Where can i get hydor external heater 200w 16mm connections?

TBH the chances of it going wrong and cooking your tank are minimal, according to Hydor it has some form of built in protection for this, though it's proving difficult to find any form of elaboration on how it works specifically.

    Peristaltic Pump

Should just be a case of hitching up a 12V dc adapter I think, the irony is that I'm an electronic engineering dropout

    Peristaltic Pump

Think I'll probably go for it, the only other thing is that it'll need a new hose, shouldn't be a big issue though. Will need to get dry ferts ordered at some point as I'm still using TPN+ at the mo too.

    Peristaltic Pump

I've found a seller on ebay selling these peristaltic pumps, they seem to be reasonable value what with the variable speed function and would only need a 12v adapter (someone correct me if I'm wrong!), does anyone see any potential stumbling blocks with it...

Would this stuff be any good for the main body of the reactor? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/50mm-x-3mm-Clear- ... .m14.l1262 Quite fancy building my own and these guys sell it in 500 and 1000mm lengths.

    bubble counter help

Submerge the bubble counter in water (orientation in that pic above), the water will force the air out of it and it'll be full.

Sounds like a check valve to me, not a bubble counter.

Well if all goes to plan, and if there is enough interest from others, put me down for one please.
