    Drop checker.

Possibly, just seemed a big difference considering he has a near neutral ph. I have similar water and the substrate never made much of a difference at all. Was just curious really.
  2. SRP3006

    Drop checker.

Why is the tank waters kh so much lower than the tap? Or am I missing something 😉
  3. SRP3006

    Drop checker.

You can use a pH pen if you have one which would give an instant reading rather than a reading of 2hrs ago like the drop checker. But to be honest I wouldn't risk stocking until I had the drop checker or ph pen, not just for the fish but it's also easier to dial in the co2 when there's no...

Just a quick CO2/plant holding tank question.

Just whack up the co2, they will shed some emersed leaves. I'd be doing daily very large water changes though.
  5. SRP3006

Just a quick CO2/plant holding tank question.

Are the plants new? As in just bought and have been grown emersed? As for the co2 you can't put too much co2 in the water, 30ppm is recommended in water to keep fish 'safe' however emersed they have access to unlimited co2, therefore high levels of co2 will not upset your plants.

    Co2 art regulator solenoid issue

Fixed and working so far. Thanks for the the walk through [emoji106]

    Co2 art regulator solenoid issue

Thanks guys. It's an older reg and has been stored in the garage for some time so maybe some maintenance would be helpful [emoji849] I'll give it a go later Cheers!

    Co2 art regulator solenoid issue

Hey guys, The solenoid on my reg doesn't switch off when unplugged, as in it carries on releasing the gas into the tank. Not the end of the world as the tank is empty and at start up but is there a way to fix it? I turned off the switch last night and the gas has continued to release into the...

    Best place to buy C02

Different connections. You just want the standard which is (don't quote me) I think din477...... Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there's only 2 anyway, soda stream or the 'standard' size.

    Best place to buy C02

Yes that's the one, the guys at Aquarium Gardens also sell all the kit you require and would be more than happy to point you in the right direction with honest genuine advice. [emoji106] Have a look at their website, or give them a call. I still have 2 of those regulators by co2 art, one must...

    Best place to buy C02

Not sure on the ista regulator but I can vouch for the co2 art ones. As long as its dual stage (to prevent end of tank dumps), co2 art do a very good starter pack with everything you need except the FE. FEs can be picked up locally by some people, others have to buy them new I believe. The co2...

Water coming out of bubble counter

Yea mines always done this, I just leave mine running dry, bubbles are too fast to count anyway. Some people use a form of oil I believe but can't remember which one.

    Expired fire extinguishers?

If you are anywhere near Taunton there's a few places around, cheapest I've found is 5 quid for used ones.
  14. SRP3006

    Expired fire extinguishers?

Mine are all out of date, all good.
  15. SRP3006

    Quick question!

A guess would say between 25% and 50%. How long did it take to drop to that level?
  16. SRP3006

    Quick question!

All full one sits somewhere between 850 and 1000, when mine starts to drop I know I have about 5 days before I need to change. That all depends on diffusion method and bubble rate though.

    2nd filter for c02

I too have done it this way for quite a while, no issues and completely removes the 7up effect. My diffuser is underneath the inflow for a fx6 which purges itself every 12hours so that stops any burping of the filter.

    CO2 suppliers Cheltenham/Gloucester

The company is a fire protection service. Always worth ringing local companies sometimes they are happy doing it. Few have been a bit shocked when I've suggested it.

    CO2 suppliers Cheltenham/Gloucester

Local supplier to me @Andrew Butler. Out of date cannisters. Sometimes there is a smaller 2kilo one mixed in but still a good price. Picked up 14 last time. He takes back the used ones and puts them back in the system.

Bazooka in tank or JBL inline diffuser???

Yes I've got prefilters over my inlets.
  22. SRP3006

Bazooka in tank or JBL inline diffuser???

Yea exactly that. So my co2 goes off at 1830 and the filter turns off for a minute at 1845. Releasing any built up gas.
  23. SRP3006

Bazooka in tank or JBL inline diffuser???

I've got an fx6, not sure if the fx5 does it. Does your automatically turn itself off every 12 hours to purge all the built up gas? If not then I'm sure there's a way round it by using a simple timer to shut it off and then back on just after the photoperiod has finished. May not be necessary as...

Bazooka in tank or JBL inline diffuser???

Yea I read that it was supposed to effect the seals but not too sure, as co2 laden water would be travelling through the filter regardless of how you inject co2. The fx6 and fx5 filters are quite large so sometimes get a burp, to stop that I have the purge timed for just after gas has gone off...

Bazooka in tank or JBL inline diffuser???

My bazooka diffuser is under the fx6 inlet strainer. Sucks all the bubbles up and dissolves them. Seems to be a bit of a marmite way of doing it tho, with some people saying you can and some saying you shouldn't. No bubbles in the tank that way and haven't come across any issues.

    CO2 question

When my co2 reg shows a drop in pressure towards 500psi I know I have a few days before the bottle needs replacing. I never seem to let the bottle empty completely as I worry it'll run out mid photoperiod and I won't be home, therefore I let the pressure drop so far and then I change it.
  27. SRP3006

    Which way up??

Is it because co2 should flow down through the ceramic then into the filter water?
  28. SRP3006

    Which way up??

That's why I've started to wonder now. All I thought about was the writing [emoji23]
  29. SRP3006

    Which way up??

But now I'm concerned cos it does seem upside down, also yours works fine, maybe it doesn't matter at all then.
  30. SRP3006

    Which way up??

Just checked online. Co2 art have a you tube vid showing it with the co2 inlet at the top of the diffuser opposite to the op.
  31. SRP3006

    Which way up??

Don't know if I'm right tho, but it's been working like that for a while. [emoji23]
  32. SRP3006

    Which way up??

I have it the other way up, so the co2 art label/brand is the correct way up. Figured they would manufacture them this way.

Trouble getting the right CO2 rate

Water changes are best done outside of the photoperiod IMO. My co2 comes on at 12, My lights at 1500. So all my water changes are done in the morning. I've read that they are best done just before the photo period so that the plants can use the co2 in the tap (if any) and also the co2 they have...

    CO2 Refills...

Looked into this supplier as I have a couple near me and they are reasonably priced minus deposit, on their map it shows a lot of suppliers around me (south west of England). Plus some of the bigger bottles I'm thinking I will need.

    CO2 diffuser help.

    CO2 Refills...

For Somerset you can use Ball fire and protection in Bridgwater. They take out of date/decommissioned tanks from businesses and they buy new. He's always happy to flog on the out of date ones for strict aquarium use. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

    CO2 diffuser help.

Hi all, Currently looking into setting up my planted tank and have a few queries about the diffuser. I'm running a fluval fx6 and possibly a fluval 306 to compliment extra turnover. As the fluval fx6 has different pipe sizes meaning it's difficult to retro fit a inline diffuser or any inline...
