Help me choose a pH meter

I never paid for the slides. A slide will accurately measure pH and ammonia for well over a month. The slides can be used for about 3-4 months without any loss of accuracy. The only thing you don't get are the text notifications, but you don't need those anyway if you install the Seneye app.

Help me choose a pH meter

I have a Seneye Home. Don't get me started on it, but the slides are incapable of measuring pH in water with KH less than 5. They have been promising a "low pH slide" for over 2 years now, but it never materialises. My Seneye Home is just an expensive thermometer. It can't measure pH in...

Help me choose a new reactor/ diffuser

Yeah it is inside the Juwel cabinet, but I can still hear it with the door shut. Just have to live with it I guess. It's not too bad, just sounds like the trickle of a stream like someone mentioned in the other thread.

Help me choose a new reactor/ diffuser

Yep, like you said, the reactor is completely silent when the Co2 is off. When the Co2 is on, it makes a trickling noise. I'm guessing there is no way to avoid that.

Help me choose a new reactor/ diffuser

It does still make noise after Co2 is off, but I'll have to double- check again after the Co2 goes off tonight.

Help me choose a new reactor/ diffuser

I'm at about 2 bps right now, but I'm going to slowly increase it over the next few days to find that sweet spot. Increasing the flow to the reactor might be a bit difficult, the filter is already pretty empty. Also, it's a 1250 lph Eheim so I think it should be providing enough flow!

Help me choose a new reactor/ diffuser

I was aware of the breakability of that Co2 nipple on the reactor, thanks for the tip. Yeah it's 16/20 pipework so fits perfectly. Just one issue. 24 hours after installation and it's still quite noisy. I have turned the reactor upside- down several times to release trapped air, and I have...

Help me choose a new reactor/ diffuser

I'm basically choosing between the Sera 500 and the Aqua Medic 1000. Pros of the Sera 500: Won't kill flow as much as the Aqua Medic Cheaper Pros of the AM 1000: Better build quality Quieter (??) So basically the decision depends on this: How much more will the AM 1000 kill the...

The new style one (which you can take apart to clean the ceramic) is leaking from both ends, at the nuts which you unscrew to take the thing apart. They're as tight as they can be. It's pissing water out of my tank as we speak. The old style one developed a crack in the plastic, and started...

Help me choose a new reactor/ diffuser

Well I hope your experience is better than mine. I'm thinking I'm going to pick up a Sera tomorrow. From what I've read, the Ista Max Mix is a "cheaper version" of the Sera. But should I get a 500, or a 1000, for my sized tank, filter lph, and bps?

Help me choose a pH meter

Ok, let me add that I am not wanting to spend more than about £30 here. GW, I do not need 0.01 resolution. So then you reckon I should get the pen? Are meters that have an external probe (the first one) more reliable than pens, which have the probe built- in?

    UP inline diffuser leaking (again)...

Yes. They are the same physical unit. The light upgrade is a software update that they seed to you only once your purchase is complete. No physical modification is needed.

It's 5 or 6. That's the minimum. I have been told it struggles at "less than 7" The slides only need to be renewed for text alerts. I haven't changed mine in over a year.

    Is it enough velocity guys?

Yes I do. But I also run the 1000 lph internal pump alongside the APS. You'll see from my other thread that I am getting rid of my APS for a better filter. Their lph is just pathetic IMO.
  32. Sacha

    Is it enough velocity guys?

I have an APS 1400 in the same tank (125) and the flow is much weaker than yours in that video.

    RO Installation

Fair enough, but you are still wasting water and there are reasons other than money for why you wouldn't want to do that. We are on a meter though.
  34. Sacha

    RO Installation

I worked out that the cost of a pump was actually cheaper than the cost of the water that you waste with not having a pump. I used to get a huge amount of waste water, now I get very little.

I had pretty much the exact same experience as you mate. They know they've screwed up- I could tell from the way they were acting. It really should be made clear before you buy the expensive bit of equipment that it is actually incapable of measuring pH in soft water.

    How to clean glass ?

I want to remove a large scratch on the inside of the tank. The problem is, I am not able to remove the fish from the tank, not even for a few hours. So this will have to be done during a water change. Is it possible? Is cerium oxide harmful to the fish if it gets in the water?

    Bubbles from in-line atomizer

Iain, in that case- what would you put in my filter?
  41. Sacha

    Bubbles from in-line atomizer

True. But it's an annoying job as it means disconnecting and reconnecting hoses etc. I don't like messing with my external filter. I am still recovering psychologically from a traumatic experience in which I emptied half the tank onto my carpet, through the external filter hoses.

    Bubbles from in-line atomizer

I would absolutely love to do this if it works properly with my filter. I use an APS 1400 lph external. In the bottom tray, I have a blue sponge and bio balls. Middle tray- ceramics. Top tray- poly pad. I am using about half of the media that is recommended, in order to increase flow. My...

    Bubbles from in-line atomizer

Apparently that's not good for two reasons... First, the bacteria in the filter don't like Co2, they like oxygen. Second, people report that the gas doesn't flow through- what happens is that a huge gas bubble just builds up underneath the bottom media tray, and eventually all comes through...

    Bubbles from in-line atomizer

I use the UP Aqua inline atomic diffuser. I don't like the fact that during the Co2 on time, the tank is filed with loads of micro- bubbles. The tank only really looks its best after the Co2 turns off. Is there any way to eliminate/ reduce the bubbles? Would increasing the pressure on the...
