Right, I'm going to wrap this up here then. There has been some good discussion about this and some food for thought. I guess we'll go away and consider all of this and make a decision on whether we want to do this, and how we'd go about it. Thanks again to everyone for their thoughts :)

I'm not going to dissect all of the above, but I'd just like to make it clear that sponsors pay their way. They don't get free advertising, but they do get exclusive advertising at the moment, for a yearly fee.

I use a cycling forum and they have this exact system in place. It's a much busier place, mind, but a lot of people donate in that way (myself included) as they feel that the forum and the community built around it is worth it. We don't get anything special other than a small gold star next to...

I don't want to tie this in anyway to sponsors or an ad free site etc. This is purely a donation to show your support for the society, like any other donation.

Let's not forget here folks, the £1/£3/£5 idea is for a recurring donation that you essentially setup and forget about for as long as you would wish. We aren't suggesting that this would be the only way people could donate, just a nice easy way to feel like you're contributing without it...
