    Glass bubble counter+check valve

Oh right that makes sense :D Do i have to put water in the bubble counter, or will some just syphon back to it naturally?

    Glass bubble counter+check valve

I have a glass inline bubble counter. Should this go before or after the check valve? And also should it have some water in it like a normal bubble counter?

TMC AquaGro CO2 Power Diffuser 1000

Just getting back into the hobby again, how do these work then? I take it the Co2 tube is attached at the side, and its fitted on the return pipe?

    Cal Aqua

Oh great, I've got some of that, might as well order a 100ml bottle of 4dkh for the same price as the mixed smaller bottle :D How many drops of Bromo blue do you put in the drop checker with the 4dkh?

    Cal Aqua

Am I right in thinking that Bromothymol Blue is the reagent in the Nutrafin pH test 6.0-7.6?

    Cal Aqua

Might be better to go for this then http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/ae-design-4-dkh-solution-with-bromo-blue-30ml-p-5339.html, unless anyone else can verify my original post.

    Cal Aqua

Am I right in thinking that this http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/cal-aqua-reference-solution-60ml-p-1992.html is put straight into a drop checker, and not mixed with anything else?

Drop checker is clear colour ????

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. It happened the first time I used the drop checker afer cleaning it over night in bleach/water solution and soaking in dechlorinator afer that. Added the 4dkh solution and the B.blue and after a while it went clear  The next time I changed the...

can a dernnele regulator be attached to a FE?

That fitting looks like the same size as an FE, so you should be fine
  17. StevenA

can a dernnele regulator be attached to a FE?

If it does'nt fit you can probably buy an adaptor from Aqua Essentials.

what do you think of this reactor?

Very nice work my friend, you should think about making them to order for others

Would this be a good starter set up?

That's interesting, just out of curiosity, how tall are the 5KG ones then?
  20. StevenA

Would this be a good starter set up?

FE is definately the way to go, but even a 2KG bottle would last a few months. Have a word with Dan Crawford on here, he sells the 2KG ones for about £24 delivered I think, not sure how much the 5KG ones are, but I think they are a bit harder to get hold of.

    solenoid and reg question.

You could just cut the plug off and fit a UK one on it, that's what I did with mine, just keep in mind that it will probably invalidate the warranty, but hey ho :D And yes they should work fine together :D Here's a good thread on regulators, well worth a read...

    Advice on required bps

If he's getting BBA on some plants etc... maybe upping the Co2 might help, and also try and get some more flow around the tank? I would up the Co2 to maybe 3-4 bps and keep an eye on the fish in case they start to respire heavily, if they do then thats too much. Have you thought about adding a...

What sort of lighting ( how many watts) have you got and what about water flow around the tank?

    Crank up the CO2?

Well thats ok then  What size cylinder are you using?
  25. StevenA

    Crank up the CO2?

Like the others have said, don't worry about how many bubbles per second if the drop checker is reading fine and the plants are loving it, with no fish fatalities then don't worry, be happy

    DIY CO2

Yep totally agree with Ed, just leave it running 24/7. When I used diy Co2, I found it was a good idea to run two bottles, but started at different times so that when you have to remix the solution in one bottle, the other one is still running and providing Co2. It just helped in keeping the Co2...

    Check valve

Could'nt find the check valves that I thought I had, so picked up a couple of cheap plastic ones from my local MA, only £2-99 for the two. Needed a few bits from Aquaessentials anyway, so i also ordered a glass Boyu check valve, which I will connect just before the pipe goes into the tank...

    What Bar?

Probably the best thing to do, it's a nice compromise
  33. StevenA

    What Bar?

Just wondering what pressure you guys run your Co2 at. Bought mine from a friend about a year ago, and he said 1 bar, but i've seen other posts on here that say 2 bar. Probably does'nt really matter, but i'm just curious :?

    Bromothymol blue

Thanks for the reply's ceg4048, and George. I did a search on Google and found another forum (sorry but i forget the name of it), and there was a post on it where the guy had used the Red Sea reagent in an ADA style drop checker, using 4dKH solution, and he had good results with it, so i'll...

    Bromothymol blue

I have just bought some 4dKH solution from Aquaessentials.co.uk, and it says on the bottle that i can only use Bromothymol blue solution with it. I have a Red Sea Co2 indicator in one of my tanks, and was wondering if the solution that came with that is Bromothymol blue, but it doesn't say...

    DIY Co2- last how long?

I use the sugar, baking soda, yeast, and water DIY Co2 method, which seems to work very well, but do you just have to make a new mixture every week or two regardless of bubbles, or does it just stop putting bubbles into the tank, and then need re-mixing?
