I have a glass inline bubble counter. Should this go before or after the check valve? And also should it have some water in it like a normal bubble counter?

That fitting looks like the same size as an FE, so you should be fine :wink:

If it does'nt fit you can probably buy an adaptor from Aqua Essentials.

That's interesting, just out of curiosity, how tall are the 5KG ones then?

FE is definately the way to go, but even a 2KG bottle would last a few months. Have a word with Dan Crawford on here, he sells the 2KG ones for about £24 delivered I think, not sure how much the 5KG ones are, but I think they are a bit harder to get hold of.

You could just cut the plug off and fit a UK one on it, that's what I did with mine, just keep in mind that it will probably invalidate the warranty, but hey ho :D And yes they should work fine together :D Here's a good thread on regulators, well worth a read...

If he's getting BBA on some plants etc... maybe upping the Co2 might help, and also try and get some more flow around the tank? I would up the Co2 to maybe 3-4 bps and keep an eye on the fish in case they start to respire heavily, if they do then thats too much. Have you thought about adding a...

Like the others have said, don't worry about how many bubbles per second if the drop checker is reading fine and the plants are loving it, with no fish fatalities then don't worry, be happy :lol:

Yep totally agree with Ed, just leave it running 24/7. When I used diy Co2, I found it was a good idea to run two bottles, but started at different times so that when you have to remix the solution in one bottle, the other one is still running and providing Co2. It just helped in keeping the Co2...

Could'nt find the check valves that I thought I had, so picked up a couple of cheap plastic ones from my local MA, only £2-99 for the two. Needed a few bits from Aquaessentials anyway, so i also ordered a glass Boyu check valve, which I will connect just before the pipe goes into the tank...

I have just bought some 4dKH solution from Aquaessentials.co.uk, and it says on the bottle that i can only use Bromothymol blue solution with it. I have a Red Sea Co2 indicator in one of my tanks, and was wondering if the solution that came with that is Bromothymol blue, but it doesn't say...

I use the sugar, baking soda, yeast, and water DIY Co2 method, which seems to work very well, but do you just have to make a new mixture every week or two regardless of bubbles, or does it just stop putting bubbles into the tank, and then need re-mixing?
