    iPad Photos

You are right about the bigger dof with the smaller sensor on the iPad. To get a closer dof in the camera you’d need high f stops 16-22 but that requires a lot more light, hence you will need the flash. It all comes down to physics at the end of the day though and you’ll never get a larger dof...

    50mm 70mm or 100mm macro lens

and don't forget that Mark was using his 135mm on a full frame body so it was actually 135mm. On your camera the Nikkor 135mm would be 202mm as I think you have a crop factor of 1.5 on nikons? (if they work the same as canon which is 1.6) You mentioned above about getting a wide for great...

    Which lens!

If you've already got the old 50mm then the sigma and tamron are very good and have a limited macro function although I tend to favour Sigma. Re the 50mm you said you've got the old version. Is this the mk1 as it was seen as a better lens than the mk2 you've linked to? The newest 50mm f1.8...

Thanks both :) Great stuff. just give me a bell :) Lol no. it was just the flash caused a shadow which hid her feet. it was actually a good job too as she'd changed her posh shoes for some slipons so they could go walking around the farm! Thanks Paulo, Im always up for a destination wedding ;)

old thread I know but Ive just ordered a 16-35mm F2.8 which should be here Monday :D so my old canon 10-22mm will be up for sale to pay towards it! After seeing Marks images with the lens it pushed me to get the full frame version for my 5d as the old 10-22 I have only works with my backup...

    seiryu stone in Bonsai

Re: seiru stone in Bonsai thanks all. Re the root ball i'd tend to say no but it should be ok in the summer months. The reason we dont use things like osmocote in Bonsai is because unlike our aquatic tank plants they dont require feeding all year round and you only feed bonsai when they are...

    Wedding Photographers comments invited...

Ill chip in :) I use 2 x 5D mkii's at weddings. The main reason for choosing the full frame (FF) sensor is the uber small and nice depth of field (DOF) you can get with fast glass over cropped sensors plus the low noise performance at high ISO's. Yes you can still get a nice DOF with a crop...

    What dslr ?

They are all pretty good as long as you don't want to do any low light stuff as they don't let enough light in for that. daytime stuff would be fine though. If you did go for the Sigma I'd look for the APO version instead of the one you listed as it has better glass.

    DSLR or Bridge?

dont bother with the 300d, its just too old and slow nowadays and im not sure if its compatible with the EFS system? the 350d on the other hand is a great camera second hand. Ive taken some of my best photos on a 350d and the sensor is the same as what was in the 20d and 30d.

hi lil-lynx, the links above are both for the same lens. This lens wont do true macro either. For macro on a canon youd need something like the canon EFS 60mm macro, Tamron F2.8 90mm macro or canon 100mm F2.8 macro (theres probably more but cant think of them for now. The lenses above will...

    Off Camera Flash

id say for taking picks of tanks you may get more use out of a softbox and a boom so you can position it above your tank. You can then use a single flash then for the whole tank and use the second for rear flash or something. Thats what id go for anyway. Have you seen the guides on the CAU...

    10-20mm lens for full-tank shots?
