youll get better spread with two on two but youll need a decent co2 splitter as they need to be really accurate to put out consistant co2.
I was thinking about it for my 120 but Ive gone with two outlets, one with an aquamedic reactor on and the other without.
I would say the workaround would be to attach a small section of co2 tube (4 inches?) to the nipple then leave it there. Further down the line put a non return valve in and you can remove the tubing at the non return valve junction for cleaning therefore not risking snapping the nipple.
I bought one. It lasted a few months until I had to clean it when the co2 nipple snapped off with the smallest of ease. I'd heard on the grapevine that the sera unit might not be made of co2 proof plastic thus the thinnest piece at the co2 junction was prone to becoming brittle. I binned mine...
Trying to remember what others on here have said about freeing up a sticky solenoid. Think it might have been blowing canned air in but can't remember. Might be worth a search on sticky solenoids
Not in a low tech tank. Low tech tanks run no co2. Minimal water changes and plants that are suited to low tech living. You also dont want to be putting too much energy (light) into the rank.
I'm on the phone so can't search but there's a wealth if info on the web and probably here on low...
i wouldnt bother with that one as it looks like the same as the sera reactor. The material isnt very co2 resistant so the co2 hose nipple snaps off the first time you try to take it off to clean it :( happened with mine.
not sure on the which splitter (theres usually a few on ebay) but make sure you get high quality needle valves if youre going to do it. Pretty sure in the past people have always had problems trying to balance the two without decent valves.
iv got one and it has been working fine on my system for several years. as above you cant adjust the working pressure but thats never been a problem on mine.
I personally wouldn't recommend the sera reactor with the impeller unless it's had a recent re-design. The co2 connector gets brittle over time and snaps off when you try and remove it to clean the unit. Had it happen to mine after only a few months :(
I used to have a Sera Bubble counter that was semi sealed with Glycerin so its not a new thing and it wont affect your co2 delivery so not sure why people are saying this. Every bubble counter is different so will produce different sized bubbles at different rates anyway? You should be using a...
TGM recommend using Siporax but I think any hard filter media will help (as long as its not too small to blow through the pipes!). Be aware though that it will drop your flow through the unit.
yup, sounds like u need to up your co2 slightly or check your flow to make sure its being pushed around the tank properly. a change in flow can have an effect on the amount of co2 being absorbed by the water (not so much with up atomisers)
are you using teflon on the screw threads? If so have a read here as its not advised for co2 - http://ukaps.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=14844&hilit=co2+ptfe
Re your drop checker as bob said try it an hour before tomorow and see what its like when the lights go on. If it doesnt help then do...
ive had a few from HK, cheap but take a while plus ive had a free nano one from dennerle. If its a second you're after then id just get an HK cheapy if you can wait.
Ive seen a new one from Gush recently which looks really nice but I dont think they have any UK distributers. Cal aqua clips...
if you look on this page you'll see they do options for AIR or CO2 but yours only has a co2 option, i guess due to the size - http://www.adana.co.jp/en/products/na_co2/pollen_glass/
lol, definately not conventional! Just so you know ADA do make difusers that work for air rather than co2. I think becuase the molecule size is different that air doesnt usually work through a co2 difuser but youve obviously proved thsi one wrong :)
dip it in some bleach for a bit then give ita good rinse before putting back in the tank. And post up some pics if you can as Ive not seen one of them in use before. Does it give a nice small bubble output? :)
ouch thats nasty!! ive had mine deeper than this before but it was on 10mm glass so maybe it doesnt affect that as much as a nano? Sorry to hear youve been the guinee pig but thanks for the tip :)
if its like the TMC ive got then you dont have a gauge to alter the outlet pressure as its fixed at a factory set level. Cant comment on whether it will work sorry as I dont own an UP yet
the local chap who supplies my gas said that the seal is on the neck of the bottle, not in the threads. On mine there is a plastic/rubber gromet that goes between the flat bit of the bottle top and the reg. Im not an expert on it, just took the advice of the local chap as his gas supply...
dont bother with it, have heard that loads of them have snapped on the co2 nipple. I did try to repair mine but its a no go with co2 at pressure going through a repaired section as if that goes Ill have a room full of co2. go for an aquamedic instead. thats what im getting instead
Re: Can co2 bottle be kept horizontally or at 45 degree angl
not sure about 45 defgrees but I wouldnt mount horizontally as youll get liquid co2 going through your reg rather than gas.
it was on the outlet and its been installed since march 2010 so plenty of time to accumulate gunk as ive cleaned the filter in that time but not the reactor.
:( my good review on this has just been upgraded to bad.
have taken my filter and sera reactor apart tonight to clean them before I put the outlet back on my 90cm tank. As I needed to clean the sera reactor as it had gunk in it I tried to carefully remove the co2 hose and its snapped off the...
it can be as you can hear a bit of cavitation when the co2 is being injected but as soon as my cuboard door is closed I cant hear it.
all the co2 is dissolved. I dont get any bubbles coming out of my lily pipe
ive got one (the small version). Works really well and havent noticed a reduction in flow although im sure there probably was one as some of the energy will be taken out driving the impeller.
I did find I had to start and finish the co2 run earlier as it takes longer to diffuse in the reactor
hi all
does anyone know of anywhere in the north west/north wales area that can refill a Sera co2 bottle with the internal valve? TGM have had problems getting their refill connector (only for sera internal valves) fixed so im needing to get gas asap as its been running without for about a...
lee, you cant put air through a co2 diffuser. the ceramic mesh is only designed for the co2 so it will only work with that (something about air or 02 molecules being bigger than co2). If you want to use your air at night then you would need a separate tube going to an air stone or if feeling...
ive just fitted a sera inline vortex jobbie that I picked up in holland. quite pleased with it at the moment so will put up a review soon. Id like to try one of these up diffusers on my 60cm so may get one from HK
nope, air wont go through a co2 diffuser. youd have to put in a separate airstone. ADA do air versions of their pollen glass which has a courser mesh, i guess becuase air molecules are bigger than co2 or something??
They are on seras website here - http://www.sera.de/index.php?id=1101&L=1.
TGM have them in but I dont think its on their website yet. might be worth giving them a call?
ive always have the solenoid on the low pressure end, ie after the needle valve.
you can get compressed air from maplins in a can or google it for online
yup. you should be able to use it with sturdy co2 tubing but ive found Ive had leaks using these before so you may need to get some of the metal joint sticks. ada sell them but you should be able to get them cheaper from whereever sells the one in your picture.
its bottom right in this pic...
i dont think they were that much more expensive but there were dearer. TGM used to sell them but they are just showing a Standard solenoid for sale on their website now. AE have two but it doesnt show what type they are.
I think my two are both standards.
its about 2.5w isnt it? of course if you bought one of those pulse ones then i dont think that uses any as it just uses the elec at the time of switching (i think)
ive got them on all my tanks, mainly becuase i can then see what gas is going in and i noice any changes straight away plus its easier to see when youve run out! However I dont have any external reactors that are hidden in cuboards as im using glass diffusers.
not yet clark, i was looking at the dennerle but if yours is too big then thats probably out. Not really urgent for me yet as ive got no critters in there yet but I was holding out for prices for the cal aqua nano drop checker but nobody seems to have them in stock yet
are you on about the ADA one or the Dazs one? And to answer your question i look at mine all day as its stuck to the side of my tank. Its really good at showing up changes in the bubble count when injecting lots of co2 as the spiral effect changes. Ill have to post a video up.
Dazs version here - http://www.thegreenmachineaquatics.com/mall/productpage.cfm/Aquatics/_dazs%20set%20A/-/Dazs%20CO2%20Set%20-%20Beetle%20Counter%20Set%20A
ADA version
cheers george, looks sweet and tiny at 3cm! will have a look around as to where to get one as they arent on the AE site.
cheers amy, ill pop an email over to dennerle to see if they sell it :)
just looking around for a drop checker for my tropica aquacube as ill be injecting co2 and ive realised the ones ive got look HUGE in the tank. Havent had a proper trawl of all the sites yet as im in work but does such a thing as a Nano size drop checker exist or has anyone put any other...
the co2 "dump" is a bit of a bizzare thing. Ive had it a couple of months ago where I lost a shoal of rasporas and half of my shrimp. My sera co2 reg had previously been through about 5 fire extinguishers and previously just stopped when it ran out. The last time however it dropped to about...
just checked mine and its sitting at a nice 50 bar after being in the boot all morning. Got a 7lb bottle, 51cm tall which fits snugly into my cabinet plus its a lot heavier than the FE's ive been using so should get some more out of it. just need to get the solenoid wired up before i turn it on...
thanks all. feeling a bit more positive now. just need to get the tank stabilised and do some more water changes as im expecting some amonia spikes as there must be more dead fish in there that I havent got out unless the shrimp got to them first.
im going to put a solenoid on now so at least...
cheers dan, im pretty gutted and dave spencer probably is too as I was breeding the extra cherries to give some to him.
Im gonna have a look around to see what shoaling fish I can get to replace the rasboras.
woke this morning to a loud buzzing sound in the lounge which sounded like a failed dimmer. Unfortunately i quickly found that it was my FE dumping its load into my tank with the bubble counter squealing like a little piggy :(
My entire shoal of high spot rasbora are dead (about 30 fish) and...
i dont think its wise, have heard before that when you have it upright your using the gas off the top which is why they are never totally full. put it on its side and its the liquid gas thats coming out. maybe complete BS though as I heard it off someone else.
solenoid should just be on/off so maybe it is your needle valve. Id also get some proper co2 hose as you muight find the normal airline will leak after a while.
so not many positive recommendations then! might have a look at the rhinox. At the moment ive got a sera reactor that came with my gas set which uses some of the filter flow to pass through it so I might try it for a bit when I set the tank up again.
hi all
im just getting some equipment together before i set my rio 125 up. Ive found these two slightly different glass diffusers and was wondering if anyone has any experience of them? Theyre both about the same price and come in a pack of two so one will be spare or used in my smaller tank...
