    Juwel Rio 180L ADA Malaya

My rams laid eggs last week, YEH!! (pics will be added later today) with the male mainly guarding the eggs with female on odd occasions BUT the eggs disappeared after few days and at the same time one of my angelfish had died with torn fins. Im guessing the rams nipped him for eating the eggs...

    Juwel Rio 180L ADA Malaya

Re: Juwel Rio 180L ADA Malaya. Pic Heavy Cheers guys. Had Mister Starkey pop round a week ago and should flower soon if feeding maintains normal. This is how it has developed so far. There seem to be three nodes altogether, one 1/4 up, half way and then near the surface it has split into two...

    Juwel Rio 180L ADA Malaya

mine is doing very well other than starting to nip at some plants. Should hopefully stop when I get a females in their. My water is generally hard but hasn't been an issue so far for the Ram. The ADA Malaya soil makes the water nice and soft which is nice help. Sorry keeps doing it with...

    Juwel Rio 180L ADA Malaya

I kept doing the Malaya spelling wrong on my tablet, Thanks for pointing out. I know there is little ammonia in Malaya so that would mean it would take longer for the filter to cycle? Doesn't matter now as I have had a small bloom of green and brown algae on the rocks so I'm presuming its had...

    Juwel Rio 180L ADA Malaya

I was assuming the wrong plants, easerthegeezer, Sorry. The ones nearest to the filter are Alternanthera Reineckii. They are doing really well with liquid carbon only with no decay but has had little growth compared to others, Should develop well over time.

Not sure forgot to note down the name but my best guess is a form of Ludwiga.

    Juwel Rio 180L ADA Malaya

Re: Juwel Rio 180L ADA Mayala One week later: Mainly notice large amount of root growth. Glosso much more difficult to tell but have no decay of leaves. Fish and shrimp are completely fine and alive. Bacterial bloom if fading away but with the appearance of little browning around the edges...

    Juwel Rio 180L ADA Malaya

Hi everyone, I am setting up a new tank to replace my 60l tank with a Juwel Rio 180L tank. I have planted the tank straight away to see if the ammonia spike can be avoided and still allow good growth of bacteria in filter as malaya soil leeches little ammonia in comparison to amazonia. I have...

That's what I was thinking when I took that pic (sorry for late reply). Recently had been given a bunch of plants from LFS and Mr John Starkey which I have introduced and thought I'd give everyone an update.

    Sunshine's 60lt Tank

I've made a few rearrangements as I have found the moss is starting to ground itself into the bogwood and gave the loaches and plecs more dark areas to hide in. Still not fully happy. But it'll do until after I've done my resits. Here's some photos:

    Sunshine's 60lt Tank

I feed them Tetra Pro Colour Crisps. It makes such a difference to their colour and is fun to watch the males perform their mating singles by a flashing yellow 'light' on their forehead in the mornings. Thing is though, they only now like the crisps and brine shrimps. Bloodworms is mouldy bread...

    Sunshine's 60lt Tank

Thanks Mr. George. I feel it has a fresh feel to it. I think the moss is dying aswell, as I've had nearly over a month now and little growth in some areas. Other plants seem to be ok. The brown/dying moss brings down the look of the moss on the bogwood aswell. I'll try and sort something out...

    Sunshine's 60lt Tank

Had a move around as I got the new external filter for the tank and so have taken more pics. Got some more neon dwarfs today, so I'm gonna wait for them to clear up before I take more pics. Gonna try and get one of the males flashing pigment they have along their forehead. That'll be...

    Sunshine's 60lt Tank

Cheers for the comments everyone. I was trying to get that kind of tank, relaxing yet entertaining. The fauna is kinda there as the loaches are always chasing each other everywhere over the tank. It's like a playground, the shrimps tustle over the algae wafers and the loaches aswell, until the...
