My Ottos never touched the stuff either.

    Corydoras pygmaes quick question?

Mine were never that small, so wouldn't of thought that they'd get stuck in and around HC. Although the fry might do if you get them small. I fed them small algae wafers and they lapped it up, never seen lower level fish go for food that quick.

    Whats the ultimate shoaling fish?

Sorry Amy, I missed this for a while. I would describe their colour as mini-neons but at the wrong angle they look totally see through. The one that was in my avatar wasn't from my fish, but they look slightly less brilliant in colour. I took some photos of them in my journal but their colour...

    Galaxy Rasbora

I had a shoal of over 24 CPDs in a 180 litre tank and saw them spawn all the time. Unfortunately, I never saw any fry. My tank wasn't setup as a breeding tank but did try them in my nano with a moss net to try and catch the eggs so the fish wouldn't eat them. There's a host of information on my...

    Why mature tank?

I think we all keep fish to keep them healthy. Providing the right environment for them is a must. Sure we can make mistakes where there are ammonia spikes, but the overriding idea of keeping fish is to keep them healthy. EDIT (Didn't finish it!): Therefore, everyone should make sure that they...

    Whitespot

I've never had whitespot, I'm sure there's loads of information on Google. I would of thought the best thing to do is a water change and get some treatment in there. If you have a hospital tank to QT them then that's even better.
  7. Superman

    Whats the ultimate shoaling fish?

I found that Celestial Pearl Danios shoaled very well as they didn't like any movement in or around the tank! The next best was harlequins although recently for my 14ltr nano I got some Sundadanio Axelrodi sp. blue (see avatar) and they shoal very tight. In your setup you could get loads of them...

    do tiger barb's eat moss\plants?

Dont get me wrong they were great fish, I just found them not my taste after moving to planted tanks. My tiger barbs did tend to stay out of the plants for most of the time, but then some did like to hide away. It's great seeing them display to each other too.
  10. Superman

    do tiger barb's eat moss\plants?

Mine got to about 2" after getting them at about 1-2cm (swapping measures here!) and I saw some in shops much bigger. I loved them for their behaviour and got on with some danios very well, but they really went for my Cherry Shrimp and Apple Snail. I removed them after a while as they didn't...
  11. Superman

    do tiger barb's eat moss\plants?

Then I had tiger barbs in a planted tank, they didn't bother any of the plants. They are great little fish but do get aggressive with shrimp and snails etc. Given time they do get rather large.

Cherry Barb, Celestial Pearl and Glowlight Danio, Boras Brig

You've got a great list there Thomas. I like the Cherry Barb, never kept them but will do soon. Their colours are great and will contrast nicely to a planted tank. As you know, I've got CPDs and they're great little fish, their colours are amazing (as you can see in my avatar). The only...

They are fab fish. Mine go for the algae wafers but take a while to get to them and will eat them more during the night. Mine also like cucumber but only with the skin chopped off.

    Otocinclus death.

Ottos are as you say a bit fussy, although I've been lucky with mine. You should have a guarantee, take the dead fish into the shop and ask for a replacement. Remember, if you're not happy with the fish they choose then you can always pick another.

Breeding Celestial Pearl Danio (Danio margaritatus)

Well all the adults were removed from the small tank on Monday and there has been no signs of fry. Oh well plan B with the other tank. Although, I've just noticed that the internal filter is covered with thick algae, so I might have to remove it and buy and external.

I think I might of seen two eggs laid out on the bare bottom of the tank. But then it could be anything as I will turn anything with a 1% chance of looking like an egg into it being a deffo egg. The fish are not interacting anymore and think some look less fat but not 100% sure. If they have...
