    snails grouping at the waterline

There's probably too much co2 (but i'm not 100%), but it's a good way to pick them out if you don't like them. I had this when i overdosed with Excel.

    New spider crabs

Yes, i nearly bought them, but as my CRS are breeding very well at the moment (just had 20 babies last night), i thought i won't upset the apple cart. But i may have another look.

    Yes, should be no problem.
  12. TDI-line

Assassin snails safe with Nerite snails?

You'll only squash snails, until one of the shells actually slashes your finger. Be careful.

Assassin snails safe with Nerite snails?

I put about 10 assassins in my 720 litre tank which also is home to about 5 Adult Nerites. They have virtually eradicated my MTS, which is great, and they have left the nerites alone. But this maybe due to them having enough MTS to kill....

    Trumpet snail prob

Hey Adam, i've just found a few of these trumpet snails in my garage tank, and a few have these white marks. I think they are eggs of some sort, and these have appeared on my wood over time also, the culprits would be Nerite snails or Corydoras Sterbai, but i'm no expert.

He never bother Amanos, as mine are all largish. I have removed the angel now, as i have added crystal red shrimp to the tank.

    Synadontis and Japonica?

I have 3 Botia Striata in my big tank, they are brilliant snail eating machines and completly fine with shrimp. I'm thinking off putting one or two in my nano too keep the snail threat down in there too.
  29. TDI-line

    best algae eating shrimp?

My amano's do seem to work the hardest, and you can get some very nice colouration on them, and the cherrys come a close second.

    Anyone know what this???

He sadly died today. Probably old age.

Lol, his pincers are tiny at best, he only catches and picks up small pieces of prima.
  34. TDI-line

    Anyone know what this???

Thanks UE. Seems to be one of these, maybe the Sri Lankan or Indian.
  35. TDI-line

    Anyone know what this???

Ohh!! I did buy it from one of the MA branches, tut tut.
  36. TDI-line

    Anyone know what this???

He is about 3", i've owned him for about a year, non-aggressive, just very greedy, grabbing prima in both claws. Just would like to know the latin name for him. Thanks.
  37. TDI-line

    Nerite snails

I have a few John, not sure what algae they eat though, but they have never tried to escape.
  38. TDI-line

    Feeding Shrimp

Mine eat anything, but usually feed tetra prima and algae wafers. I usually feed my CRS tank every day with crushed food (pestle and mortar), and i always feed my main tank which has amano's and cherry shrimps every day also, but that does have other stock.

    Uninvited guests (Snails)

It doesn't look one of the helpful sort, i'd be buying some snail eating fish. I think most botia species will eat small snails, the most popular is the clown loach, but these can get very large. I have 3 botia striata, which sort out all nuisance snails in my tank, and they socialise nicely...
  40. TDI-line

Some decent pics of Nerite Zerba snails?

Are these at Crowland George, i think i may get a dozen for my tank.
  41. TDI-line

    Controlling shrimp populations

They are a problem as they reproduce like mad in mine, but they do keep the algae down. On a tangent, i just found a cherry shrimp crossed with a bamboo shrimp ( i think), bright red with a darker line across his back, or that maybe just a bamboo/wood shrimp. And she was pregnent! :roll...
  42. TDI-line

    Shrimps

No problem, mine both breed in the same tank too.
  43. TDI-line

    Controlling shrimp populations

How about setting up a net on a flat piece of gravel, put a couple of algae tablets in there, them come back in a hours time, then fish a few out, and repeat. I did this with mine, then took them to my local lfs. Or buy a few large discus, they will soon get the taste. ;)
  44. TDI-line

    For all you CRS fans

A nice addition to my shrimp army too.
  45. TDI-line

    amano v's cherry

I have both in mine, but as algae eating they all seem as busy as each other. The amano seems to me to be a larger shrimp (upto 2" in my tank) with pretty decoration on his back. And he takes his time slowly walking through the plants. The cherry shrimp (upto 1" in my tanks) are very colourful...
