If I had to chose I would go with water changes over a test kit as well, if you get the test kit and find NH3 then its water changes anyway so might as well just skip the testing part! :lol: water changes shouldn't do any harm. Glad it was useful :) out of interest, do you have your local water...

Yeh low light carpets tend to be tricky and its the high light that keeps the plants growing low. Glosso tends to grow upwards under low light. The P.helferi might be worth a try though. Sam

Im running 3x18w Arcadia freshwater's on my 90lt and its around the mid light, the plants pear for about the last half hour before the lights go off. So I would think a combined total of 72w over a 180 would be about right. Sam
