I don't. I haven't tested any water for about 3 years.
Like JohnC, I too use plant and fish health as a guide to my water quality.

I couldn't tell you to be honest, I had mine running at about 60% (judging by the notches on the valves) for about a month after setting the tank up as my fish didn't like the strong flow, and slowly increased it 10% ( 1 notch ) week on week.
What this notches equate to in LPH I honestly don't...
Delivery charge and time, and as I was going to MA anyway it made sense. Also it's easier to go to a bricks and mortar store to sort out any problems if the filter was faulty etc
The pipework is 25mm
Ooops I misread the dimensions as 4 x 2 x 2. You can always turn the filter down if need be...
Just a quick note before you go ahead and click on the buy button, if you have a Maidenhead Aquatics near you they should price match any price on the net. This is what I done when I bought my FX6, and it only cost me £194.99, saving me between £35-£50 depending on where you looked. That was a...
Why not just plant well and add fish from the start?
Carry out water changes daily and everything will be ok, no need to add Ammonia to the tank and no real need for inaccurate test kits.

I'll be honest, like Troi I have never dealt with them either. I think from what you have written I never will. The initial time scale of 4 months would of put me off straight away, let alone that then turning into 5/6.
Personally I'd have asked for a refund the first time they put the build...
I found these in Primark and as they only cost £1 I thought they were a bit of a bargain. You get 3 bottles (2 larger and 1 smaller), a small screw lid pot and a funnel.
I'll be using them when I go away for a few days soon and hopefully the in laws can't get it wrong and put the wrong...
I'm picking up a Fluval Roma 240 compete with 305 filter and a heater tomorrow night, bought very cheaply through parentsbay or something on Facebook. My wife found it and showed it to me because it was so cheap, £50 for the lot! No cabinet with it though so I'll be building one.
The best bit...
I believe so yeah, tank wise I think they'll make whatever you want. As for the cabinet, I'm not sure. Give them a ring.
You could always build your own cabinet, and then have more £££ to spend on filter, lights, plants etc etc

Ridiculous isn't it, especially when you can make your own and with a little bit of work it can look just as good, if not better.

If it were me, I'd stick with what I've got and make it work. With the equipment you have, there is no reason why it can't work. The filter is more than capable, and so is your chosen method for getting the gas into the tank.
You say your lights are knackered, why? What's wrong with them?
If...
Use air line to refill, takes a while but means that the cat litter stays where you want it to without being disturbed and kicking up dust.

Fluval Roma has the nicer looking cabinet to compliment the tank.
If you would be buying tank and stand complete, then it really is down to which you think looks better.

I've had to move my Cory's into one of my other tanks 'cos the little buggers kept lifting my Stauro!
They'll be fine though, they will still be able to snuffle around.

That's because you've spent your money on it, you were hardly gonna have it turn up, look at it and go 'meh'. I'm sure in some countries you could buy an arm and a leg down the market for the money you paid out.
Go for the TMC over ADA all day long, and spend the difference on all your...
I've read it, and re-read it and I'm not sure it makes a whole lot of sense.
What I can gather is that the OP is a MASSIVE fan of Tom Barr.
Maybe I'm being thick but like Alistair said earlier in the thread, basically unless you are TB don't bother?

Perfectly normal, as has been said already.
You'll probably start to notice some tiny roots and then a tiny leaf, eventually followed by the beginnings of a tiny Rhizome.
Just let it grow. You can either wait until the plantlet gets big enough to pick off, or let it detach on its own. Then...
The wood in my 60l at the moment is just a bit of a branch from the tree in my neighbours garden, I've got no clue what the tree is so no clue as to what wood I have.
I completely stripped it of it's bark, and then popped it in the oven at 150°for 45 mins and left it to cool. I've had no...
I'm sure the position of the spray bar on the side of the tank, rather than the back wall of the tank isn't helping any. The Java fern stuck in the far opposite corner, hidden behind the wood and other ornaments will be suffering from poor water flow and distribution.
Can you move the spray...
I've just moved house last weekend, and I've gone back over to my old house today to sort out my tanks and get them moved before handing the keys back this Friday. As soon as I walked into the house I was hit by a nasty rotten water smell, and as soon as I looked into my Jewel Vision 180 in the...
