    Seneye

I don 't thinking this is a design flaw. Keep in mind that if the sensor was in direct light all the time, algae will build up really fast. Especially with calcious algae in reef tanks it will be a real pain in the *ss to clean the plastic sensor again without scratching it. You can use it to...

Spoke to them directly as well, they promised the low pH slide almost 2 years ago indeed. About the NO3 and Cl test. It will never measure live NO3. The website suggests this, but what they're building are teststrips, you place them in the water, and after that your Seneye probe will 'read' the...

    Hydor ETH 300 - Lasted 27 Days

Depends on the fish. Lots of fish can survive much colder than we assume, because most fish are collected in low water seasons (meaning the water temperature is highest). Keep a keen eye on them, in the worse case you can raise your room temperature 2-3 degrees:P

    Life span of a tank/seals ????

I think most important is that the seals have never dried out. As long as they are kept moist, they can go for years. Stuff like bleach and certain medicines can reduce it's life expectancy.

    Automatic Fish Feeders.

Whenever I leave for less than 2 weeks I feed them extra for a week before and 2 days after. Never lost a fish. When I go away for longer, I've the Eheim feeder. It does the same thing the Juwel does but with a fan in it to keep the food dry (although the Juwel one looks like you can add an air...

    non-bought wood

I used Salix, with bad result. It wasn't totally dead to begin with... And left the bark on it which was covered in BBA in no time. I used several types of stone. One with lots of lime in it, with bad results and another one I tested before and no problems.

Any types of nylon fishing line to avoid?

Go for fluor carbon, almost invisible. Or multicolored line green/brown.

    Gravel cleaner for deep tank

It does indeed siphon it out of the tank. But like Clive said, this is a good thing. I attach a longer hose and this one goes all the way to the drain. No problems whatsoever. Please do not try to do it any other way, it will only make things worse!

Has anyone ever done a fully automated tank?

Than yes! Dozens of such tanks in companies showrooms. I maintain one which just pumps in new water a few times a week with an overflow into the drain. Feeding is automated, he only adds frozen food for his discus now and then but they eat granules most of the time. CO2 on pH and ferts by dosing...

Has anyone ever done a fully automated tank?

Impossible, if only for the trimming.

    R/O Unit

Not a top aquascaper but I do use RO myself. But it depends on the tank and the parameters of your tap water. Plants take up nutrients easier in soft water than in hard water. With a KH of 20 out of the tap -> use RO. I've a KH of 6 out of the tap so I use almost no RO in my 400L. But in my...

Phosphate does help algae to grow. They need it just like plants. BUT they do not cause algae. Like mentioned before, algae grow when something is short in a tank, not when something is in excess. This is very important to understand for a planted tank. A non-planted cichlid tank however does...
