    questions about photoperiod

That is very little light indeed. That said, with that height and width, it could be enough for most plants. But if you're using CO2, you can easily add more light. I would recommend 2 T5 over the entire lenght (or 4 half the length). Without replacing the old light I would add a T5 in front and...

    6500 LED's

IME, plants can adjust from 2700K to 14000K or even more, but whether the tank will still look pleasing is a whole different story!

    Lighting times

When the light is very low, you won't need CO2 yet. I have the same situation, the first 2 hours I ramp up from 1% to 10%. The PAR level is still quite low at this time. After those two hours it ramps up faster and I start injecting CO2. But when light hits a certain PAR, you need to make sure...

    Lighting times

The daybreak is for people who didn't manage CO2 right. Should not be necessary. Like mentioned before, plants don't care. They need about 5 hours a day of light, the rest is for you. Fish don't need much more than ambient light, everything brighter is for you. You can ramp up the light from...

Effects on PAR - Air and Water

I saw the 120W 16.000K version. This one was already bright, I expect the 8.000K (I guess that is the one you'll get) to be even brighter. About the PAR. Even with 100% clear water and no surface movement, I think it would still be impossible. It would depend on things like angle and light...

Effects on PAR - Air and Water

I think this is impossible. Because it depends on how clear the water is (suspended particles, tannins etc.), surface scum, even water movement on the surface. But I've seen the Razor in real life last week, it does look bad *ss! I think the designer came from a computer parts designing company:p

want to know is12000k good for plants?

I use a 14000 and a 3000 above one tank. They put out about the same PAR but a totally different color off course. I think plants can adapt to many wavelengths as long as PAR is high enough. The question is, do you like the look of 12000K?

Too much LED lighting ? Help needed

I think it is verg hard to tell without measuring PAR, but I can tell I used 2x27W (I believe, TMC grobeam tiles) on a 250L. All plants grow fine, no need to go higher IME. But get yourself a PAR meter to find out for sure, WPG is useless.

    PAR and UV

My first thought too. But UV killing algae is mainly UV-C. In reef tanks they use UV to make the colours of their corals (the algae within) pop. They are not killed by it. Emersed plants in paludaria receive extra UV-A/B light as well without killing plants/algae. So is the chlorophyll killing...

    PAR and UV

With the original question answered I'm hijacking this thread. How about algae and PAR? Dennerle has some amazing UV coating around their t5 bulbs with the claim that algae uses UV and plants don't. Never really believed it but can algae use UV?
