I have set my FX6 up using the coarse and medium sponges in the outer rings as per Pondguru advice. These sponges do get quite compressed to squeeze into position. I have noticed that some larger waste, bits of leaves etc, end up on top of the floss on top of the central section. Is it possible...
Coincidentally I have ordered new lights yesterday- the Chihiros A series which runs at about 8000K. I rarely replace my carbon, but baulked at the replacement at the LFS at £12 a pop. It does make the water clear, and my thinking was along the lines of if I could get it cheap I would continue...
As per header.
I am using carbon in my filter, but it's way too expensive in small quantities.
Does anyone have any recommendations? There are loads at varying prices on eBay, so not sure what to go for or avoid.

I must say that my fish seem somewhat livelier since I have bought the pump. The substrate also keeps cleaner as there is constant movement, so no deadspots for crap to accumulate. A good buy I think.
I have just bought a koralia nano 900 L. I was worried that it would pin the fish to the glass in my 200L tank. It has worked really well. I can't even see it behind some Amazon Swords. I can't see the dimensions on the box, but it is not an eyesore in the tank. There are a few videos on YouTube...
Well Amazon have just delivered the pump. The additional flow is not enough to require me to turn it off at night. I had visions of fish pinned against the glass, but it's just what I needed (apart from the hopelessy short flex and moulded plug which I need to cut off). Oh I also need a...
I have a 200L aquarium filtered by an Aquamanta 300, this supposedly turns over 1100 lph, but obviously somewhat less in the real world. Water movement in my tank is OK, but hardly spectacular. CO2 and aquasoil base.
I have ordered a Hydor Nano that turns over 900 lph to move things about a bit...
I have an Aquamanta EFX 300. Been very pleased, silent, easy to use. I had an eheim professional with an integrated heater some years back, total crap. Replaced that with a Tetratec, which was also an excellent filter. When I got a new aquarium I got the Aquamanta and it just works.
