Hi @diirrtydubcakeZ
I had a look at your tank online, have a look at the link http://www.koi-zone.co.uk/Medium-Rectangular-Aquarium-Fish-Tanks/Fish-R-Fun-54-Litre-White-Rectangular-Aquarium-FRF-585WH-p-2044.html It states on the web page that you can make it rimless.
Regards,
Jim
I have tried kale, didn't work :( will give blanched lettuce leaf ago, anything to get rid of the PITA.... i have been removing the larger ones and squashing the smaller ones up to this point, up and down from chair every 20-30 min. As for the assassin snails they have been dying off one by one...
Just waiting on an Up CO2 controller and some more plants, have changed the fish to a single species tank, when i say single species i mean ottos and neons. Have added riccia to the tank, just letting it grow a bit more and then add it to some of the wood.
Trying to decide on flow.... i have...
I spent a lot of time looking at the CO2 options that are available and finally decided to go with CO2arts soda stream kit, Link: http://www.co2art.co.uk/collections/complete-co2-systems/products/complete-budget-sodastream-system-for-aquarium-up-to-120l (this is the one i went for) or...
You do have a few options in regards to EI, i use co2art bulk bags and make up what i need, here is a link http://www.co2art.co.uk/collections/fertilizer
Good luck with the bargain hunt
Jim
Welcome to ukaps.
I use JBL aquabasis and manado and it's working fine. if you are going to re-scape the tank you could just add some aquabasis, it nice and cheap compared to ADA products. I would have a good read in the tutorials section as lots of inert products have been used and reviewed...
Hi and welcome to ukaps Mic-F.
Here is a link to a post from this forum: http://www.ukaps.org/forum/threads/whats-the-plastic-cards-used-to-stop-soil-or-gravel-from-moving.36159/
I had already scaped my tank before i found this forum, wish i had found the site first as the substrate has...
Hi megladon,
Welcome to ukaps. We all love a pic on here so a few of you 250 would be great, you should also start a journal for your other tank as well.
Jim
Hi Steven and welcome to ukaps.
Test kits, expensive and not needed IMO. I agree with EnderUK check out the easy plants as that can help to influence the design of the scape.
Will watch the thread with interest, good luck and keep us informed.
Jim
Hey serok,
after seeing your other posting i know you will be able to offer lots of advise as well as pick up lots of great ideas from this forum. Do you have any other tanks or planning to scape anymore.
Jim
Your right about good threads, almost to many :) as far a substrate goes i think some people choose because of price, some because of brand (ADA) and some because they have really done their research. I think as long as people use EI then i'm not too sure if it matters (compaction issues are...
Hi Mic,
It is Alternanthera cardinalis in the background, really nice reds and purples from it which contrasts well with the Monte carlo. I have got rid of the valis as it never really looked right in my tank, plus i kept finding runners each day which i had to trim back.
Have you thought any...
Hi Mic,
I'm glad you like my tank :) it has grown in quite a bit since those photos (will have to update this thread soon). In regards to the JBL soil the aqua base offers low amounts of NPK, not a problem if like me you use EI dosing. The Monado top allows the carpet plants to run their roots...
Some algae now present in the tank so just trying to blalance lights, EI and lights. Eleocharis is growing in but quite a lot of die back, flo issues I think!
Welcome Garry, looking forward to see a journal on the 240L, and as Edvet said
I have only had my tank going for little while and am all ready planning my next.
Hi Henry, thanks for the comment. The light can be turned down from 10 LEDs to 3 per light. So far no algae with lights on full, fish seem fine but monitoring everything closely.
Hi Martin, thanks for your comment. The tank was run for 5 weeks with no fish, filter media from an old tank and filter start. Two weeks ago the Eleocharis, Anubias and Alternanthera were added and then Valis last Sunday. The fish were added Monday with no fatalities.
