i would imagine that most ppl on here will tell you the lighting is too high to be running without the aid of co2.
what is the lighting cycle on for?
possibly remove the reflectors and add some floating plants to cut down the amount of light getting into the tank.
water changes in a non co2...
for my 240l
i have a 100 litre water butt in my garage filled day before W/C with a power head and heater in it.
i syphon the water straight to outside drain and use a pump on a hand drill to pump water from butt to tank.
substitute "ferts" for "ammonia", and the statement will be kinda right.
having cheap, fast growers to help through the initial stages can be a good thing.
no pun intended? :0/
yeah i do really want to get another, a guy fairly close is selling some.
unfortunately i'm waiting to see if i get made redundant, so i need to wait a bit!
i looked into these when i first set my 240l up.
read a fair bit about them shrinking or coming unstuck, also they are pretty big and will take up a lot a space in the tank and would be a nightmare to clean should you get any algae in the tank!
i'm really glad i didn't bother, i also wish i...
keep in mind the evaporation can have a knock on effect to your co2 levels if the surface gets more disturbed as the water level drops.
so its worth keeping it topped up! ;0)
actually i just found a tiny amount of remains in the one small patch of plants i didn't move!
so 40 cardinals, some chain loaches and a couple of young angels can indeed munch thro a smallish plec in a few days! :0(
well, at least i'm sure i didn't gas him!
R.I.P.
could a 3-4 inch plec die and get TOTALLY consumed by tank makes within a week?
i would think it unlikely but the only other option is he jumped out and that is surely far more unlikely.
last time i saw him was a week ago yesterday when i ran out of co2, had no co2 until wednesday so lights had...
hi,
i have a chance of a D-D nano cube (24 uk gallons) for very cheap, it was previously set up as a marine, so replacing the lights is first thing i need to do.
so, does anyone know if this tank will run with just one tube? (my luminaire over my other tank wont run if you remove one tube) want...
must admit to feeling a bit of a wierdo after trying to find it in 7 shops locally and it not being on sale in ANY one of them!
EVERY shop had mags about dogs, cats, horses, sailing, even freaking carpentry, but not one had any tropical fish mags!
or maybe its just cos it sells so...
very nice article george!
shame it didnt have a simple diagram to show the plant names/positions in each of the tanks illustrated tho!
it could of been much more useful.
i dont mean to sound like i'm moaning btw......... :shifty:
:0)
talk about sitting on the fence!!
for me, i read info, forums and articles everyday for a couple of hours and have for months now.
currently thinking through setting 2 more tanks up, a low tech in the bedroom!!! now, how i got the thumbs up for that one................... thanks...
if your drop checker is yellow by the end of the day i'd be carefull with upping it more?
are yer levels good at lights on? do you switch it on 2-3 hours before lights on?
i fiddled with flow a lot in the last few months, in my experience it seemed best in my tank when i fitted the 2 spraybars...
this thread seems to have gone off topic slightly.
but maybe the reason TFF seems to have gone down hill recently is purely because THIS forum is such a good place to be?? :D
i have used TFF a bit in the recent past, but the more friendly "local" type atmosphere on here, along with the...
hmmm, you have been round the block a bit with that dude!
hopefully everything you've learnt thro having yer probs will pay off in the long run!
have you still got the old filter? running that along side the ehiem could be an option?!
well, good luck getting it all sorted!
Re: Packing it in "NO I'm Back boys and Girls" Update @ 30.05.09
ok, so i'm not the most experienced person around here but would it possibly be better to have your power heads on the back wall pointing in the same direction as your spraybar, so they compliment each other rather than give an...
how about adding an assassin snail or two, my lfs sells them and they apparently hunt dont and eat other snails!
possibly add a loach of some sort (i used chain/dwarf loaches for this, seemed to work and they are so nice i added a few more even tho my snails had gone!!) :0)
or maybe a dwarf...
