    Apistogramma Trifasciata breeding

I would have thought that is a pretty good survival ratio, especially as the fish are doing the hard work for you?

Paternal mouthbrooding in the chocolate gourami Sphaerichthys osphromenoides (Osphronemidae)

I think it is has been widely known for a time along with the male mouthbrooding for the case of the congener Sphaericthys Vaillanti, so it would all make sense.

    Nano thank recommendations

My honest opinion is that's a bit small for fish, according to my calculation the tank will only hold 13l of water without substrate and hardscape. I'm not saying it can't be done but you would have to be on top of your water changes (every other day or so). It wouldn't take long for things to...

    Stocking Order For New Setup?

The smaller Horned Nerites (Clithon sp) don't seem to produce the same white spots (eggs) as their larger counterparts. Any updates and a couple of snaps?

What kind of eggs are these?

Hi, I've not kept any Corydorus for a number years but I had a good few Sterbai a while back. They were prolific egg layers (the front glass and plants) and I would quite often see an occasional young one appear out of the blue which was good as I didn't really want a tank full of them, the rest...

    Long post regarding my tank

The total hardness of London tapwater in ppm must surely be in the 300 - 400 range, so I'm not really sure what that measurement alludes to. Also changing 20l of water in a 160l tank would not reduce the nitrate from 25-50 to 0-10 mg/l, so as already suggested it's time to bin those test strips.

    Neon with Ich

Looks to me like they are on the mend, just be careful to follow the instructions and finish the course of meds as white spot has a cycle and when they drop off they will have produced hundreds of offspring which need to be controlled before finding their way back on to your fish. Cheers!

Tropical fish in low hardness ?

If you can access 0 dKH water I presume you have an RO unit. If so, why not just mix 50/50, 75/25 etc RO and tap water depending on the fish requirements for each tank? Cheers!

Twin 96 litre tanks fish stocking suggestions

Why not try any of the deeper bodied Rasboras, (I would steer clear of the torpedo shaped varieties in a 60x40x40). Trigonostigma, Microdevario etc and/or some of the smaller less active Danios, Sundadanio, Tinwini, then there are the Bororas which look amazing in a larger group. If your water...

Is this Ich on my Kerri Tetra?

Hi, I'm certainly not an expert on fish diseases so could well be wrong but that doesn't look like white spot to me, it looks too prominent like a pimple or a cyst. Cheers!

    Espei Rasbora

Out of 20 I had 2 make the leap of faith in the first day or 2 when first introduced. They were young, straight from the shop and spent the first few weeks (apart from feeding time) surfing the front glass where in the that first 5mm the flow from the lily pipe is deflected and is at it highest...

Help deciding which fish could be the right one

Well it's doable, just keep a keen eye on your Ammonia and Nitrite levels and be ready for frequent water changes.

Help deciding which fish could be the right one

Personally I would give it a couple of weeks between adding batches of fish to allow the biome time to multiply. I can't see any reason to not add some snails and/or shrimp though if you are going down that route. Cheers!

    How to feed Sparkling gouramis?

Hi, I really fancy keeping either a few Licorice or Samurai Gouramis, but I can't commit to 24/7 live food offerings. Did you manage to wean yours on to prepared and frozen foods at all and did/are they thriving? I can manage live once or twice a week but have other commitments also. Thanks!

Is it not a possibility that adding a few more Embers might do the trick or failing that some form of small Rasbora. Cheers!

    Fish suggestions please . . .

Hi, I have no personal experience but just from reading on here and 1 or 2 other sites, that it would be difficult to trust any Gourami with shrimp. I did keep a couple of Honey Gouramis years ago (without shrimp) and they spent the days constantly probing through the plants/hardscape. That...

Discus has white on it, have pics that I am going to try and post. The discus swims around and eats but it looks like its getting on the eyes.

That poor Discus doesn't look very well at all to me, at that age they ought to be kept in a group, fed well and maintained to the optimum. Cheers.

    Hi and some questions

hi angelah, i personally don't think it is set in concrete that you need to have your spraybars along the back of your tank seeing as you're going low tech. its your tank and you are the one that has to find it aesthetically pleasing. you could toy with the idea of having both inlets at one end...

    corys

hi adandrews, i've kept various cory's for years and presently have 15 sterbai in a 300 liter. i wouldn't say they dig or uproot plants as such, but they certainly interfere with runners and expose roots just below the surface. they have also severely disrupted my 'e. parvula' patch. on a plus...

fish for 2 foot cube (ish)

as far as was aware, a vast majority of rasbora's prefer acidic conditions apart from maybe the "art nouveau" galaxy rasbora, and perhaps one or two others. having said that, most fish from the l.f.s.s' around these parts (i'm from the shire also) are not only kept, but proliferate in hard...
